Kentucky kept it close for a half, but UNC simply was too talented for Kentucky. I'm actually fairly happy with the showing by the Cats. I can see improvement, and if the Cats can get Meeks and Jasper back then I think the Cats will be alright.

Can't be too upset after this loss... UNC is one of the best teams in the country this year. This will be a down year for UK IMO, I just hope everyone else is ready to accept that and we don't have any bridge jumpers.

I was really impressed by effort of our Cats they fought for all 40 minutes the last 3 min of the game I saw a lot of improvement in them. Vitale said it best we dont know how to get the ball downlow to Patterson and our passes are to predictable at times. In all I'm proud of them and how they played. One other question any reason why Legion didnt play in the first half?

I don't know, but hopefully as the season progresses we'll see Stewart and Legion start to take some minutes away from Coury and Porter.

Wildcats played hard and tried to establish a physical presence early. Carolina's superior talent eventually took over. How long before Stewart takes the starting job from Coury? Patterson had a good game and I think you could see his heart and dislike for losing in the closing seconds.

Fought hard but it was like watching the freshmen team scrimmage the varsity team. Freshmen team gave effort but kept hitting the floor holding their mouths and wiping away the blood because the varsity team was more physical under the basket. UK has a really soft team. A lot of people are questioning where Legion was and why Porter played more than him. Has anyone told Bradley he doesn't get points for dribbling the ball 30 feet from the basket. I still think there are times where Gillispie has a 'deer in headlights' look about him.

I was thinking it looked more like the deer after the wreck. Or maybe that was Tubby.. :D

A round of observations from today's game:

1. We just simply don't have the talent right now to keep up with a UNC. Porter and Stevenson just aren't UK quality players. I love Mark Coury, but at the end of the day, he's still just a walk-on.

2. I have given up trying to justify/reason Gillispie's substitution patterns. I'm convinced the players get more worn down running between the bench and the scorers table than from running up and down the court.

3. Why did it take 29 minutes to get Legion into the game? The crowd actually started chanting AL-EX LE-GION about 2 minutes before he got sent in. Gillispie then pulled him right back out, almost as if to say to the crowd - "Listen, I'm in control here."

4. AJ Stewart will be a stud in the future. He's really raw and immature right now, but he's shown us flashes (and not Jared Carter flashes).

5. Biggest cheer of the afternoon? Rich Brooks on the jumbotron.

6. PP has surpassed the hype. He is every bit as good as advertised. He outplayed Hansbrough today.

7. Solid showing by the Cats. Though some possessions were a painful reminder just how young and green we are, there is enough to make me optimistic about the future. Patience.

8. It's early, but I don't think UNC will be cutting down the nets in April. They've got some holes.

One eye looking up and one eye looking ahead? That's Dick Vitale. I wonder how he was greeted today by the fans at the Rupp Country Club.

You would figure that BG would get asked about Legion's lack of playing time in the first half.

Maybe he will give some answers. Game went pretty much as expected, Carolina has just too much right now and Kentucky is in "rebuilding" mode.

I'll take this from the Cats. Good effort, just out talented.

I do want to know how Patterson and Bradley both end up bleeding without fouls being called. The refs were awful. They didn't cost UK the game, but they were bad.

Speaking of bad, I've never been a Dicky V hater, but I am now. Between his own personal telethon, his backhanded complements, and his constant babbling on about Tubby, I was ready to steal his fake eye.

As far as UK goes, they definitely showed signs of life. They still need to get comfortable with the system, but I think things are starting to click. Also, the more I watch, the more valuable I think Jasper will be on his return. Meeks hurts, but I think Jasper could be the missing link. Hopefully they'll both be back soon!

Quick question for those who watched the game. I was working and didnt get to watch or listen. Was this loss a lot worse than it looked on the score board at the end of the game ? I was able to listen to the game for about 30 seconds during the second half when they were down 18 or 20. Did we make a run on UNC's scrubs and younger players towards the end of the game or did we actually make up a few points on their starters ?
