I am still not 100% sure it is a done deal that he is staying at LSU. He still dodges the question on some level.

He also said on Mike and Mike and last night on an interview (paraphrasing here) that he does not know of any direct contact that his people have had with UM.

 

Whether he goes or not I do not know (I would guess he is staying), but I still do not think the behind the scenes discussions have ceased, imo.

You may be right. I was only disagreeing with the assertion that he's still dodging the question on some level...IMO, he's not. He's come out and said, flat out, I'm staying at LSU. I'll be their coach next season...

 

I see no dodging or wiggle room...if he's still talking to Michigan or planning on going there, then he's just flat out lying without even attempting to cover it up. I think most of the time these coaches are 1) torn, in that they feel bad about leaving the current situation, but they are going to leave, so they try to get through by dodging the question or 2) they really aren't sure and make a last second decision. Like Pitino saying he wouldn't leave UK and then going to Boston...I think the Celtics offered him such a sweet deal and his ego relished the challenge of turning Boston back into a contender and it changed his mind.

 

Miles, IMO, knowing what is on the table, is stating emphatically that he is staying at LSU. I think he already knows what Michigan's offer is, so it's not a situation like Pitino where he says he's staying at LSU and then UM offers him something unexpected.

 

Just my take. I think Miles will stay at LSU. Although, Miles and Michigan could use some advice from Tubby and Minnesota...everyone says that Tubby was in talks with them for some time and yet, nobody knew until the bomb dropped. :lol:

I'm not sure what is going to happen but I wouldn't rule out Miles going to Michigan. As bugatti said Saban obviously has pulled this off. I think we will have to wait and see until after the National Championship to figure out what is going to happen. Either way, it definently is not a done deal.

How do you know that's the case? Because he said so? I guess his word has always been golden in the past .

I don't believe Miles said "I will be the coach next year"...I think it was more like "I am the LSU coach, I will be the LSU coach..." to me, that's 'wiggle room'.

 

I agree he is working hard to make it sound like it's a mute point...but I don't buy it. I'll be more shocked if he does NOT go to Michigan for the 2008 season when it's all said and done...I think he had a deal worked out months ago for IF / WHEN the time came....(which appears to be Jan 8, 2008)...
