November 25, 200718 yr Author I thought it was about national championships. How many has he played for? Although I think we all agree the SEC is the toughest conference he got beat at home to a middle of the pack team and a UK team who hadn't beat a number one in like 100 years. For most of his tenure with a national championship didn't Carr have very simular records and people in Michigan have wanted him gone for a couple of years.

Throw out the names of coaches with titles that Michigan could get then? Did Tressell have any championship experience when he was hired?

November 25, 200718 yr 2005 - 11-2 2006 - 11-2 2007 - 10-2 ( so far ) So that's 32-6. Yeah that looks pretty good but he did take over for Saban who got Russell and all the other good players over the years. IMO he isn't a "great" coach. Or even the coach most think he is. Since Miles has been at LSU, the only other team in America that has as much talent as them is Southern Cal...yet he manages to lose at least 2 games every season. If Michigan fans weren't happy with Carr, they aren't going to be with Miles. So, while some of you may want to point to 32-6 and say that's it...you're wrong. He's going to Michigan...what's the complaints with Carr? Can't beat Tressel...you can't spell Lloyd without two L's. Well, Miles better hope he can beat Tressel, because he's already proven he's got the two L's thing locked up. Look at LSU last year...the #1 overall pick (QB Russell), #6 pick (S Landry), and two WR's in the first round and plenty of other talent on the roster...yet they lose 23-10 to Florida and 7-3 against Auburn. It's the same story with Miles every year...no way on earth LSU should have lost two games this year to UK and Arkansas. So, maybe he can beat Tressel and UM fans will be happy with a 10-2 record with a win against OSU and losses to Indiana and Minnesota. Les Miles = good coach? Sure. But, this Michigan football...I don't think being good is enough.

Arguably, USC is the only other team to sustain success like LSU has and the Pac-10 is no SEC. You do understand how college sports work right? Upsets, crazy upsets, happen ALL the time. If Les isn't the answer than who is?
November 25, 200718 yr I didn't even read the thread well I did about half of it so forgive me if this has been mentioned. But this turned me Completely off against the man. Against Auburn he had a chance to tie the game, they threw the TD pass to win it, on a very good and hard catch to make as time ran out. If the ball would have been dropped it would have been game over, after the game he talekd like they had all kinds of time left on the clock, the man had no clue the clock was running out. I would feel much better going into OT on my home turf, than taking that deep shot as time expired. And I think he would have to, but the man honestly didn't know time was runnign out. But whoever designs their fake FG's rather it be Miles or a special teams coach is very creative haha.

You do understand how college sports work right? Upsets, crazy upsets, happen ALL the time. If Les isn't the answer than who is? I certainly understand...but Miles has had second to none talent since he's been at LSU and he's managed to lose at least twice every year. If Michigan fans weren't happy with Carr, then they aren't going to be with Miles. And please, spare me the schedule crap...it's a nice excuse for Les, but it would carry more weight had he lost to someone besides UK and Arkansas (at home). Or, if he could have fielded an offense, that could have scored more than 13 combined points against Auburn and Florida last year...I mean, he did have the #1 overall pick at QB and two first round WR's on the field...you'd think he could at least get in the end zone once a game. I don't know who the answer is, but I don't think Les Miles is. IMO, Michigan is getting exactly what they had, and it's obvious they weren't happy with that. My point is, why go there? Why not take a chance on someone who can do what Tressel has done at OSU, instead of Lloyd Lite?
November 27, 200718 yr I'll ask the question again, since no one wanted to answer it last time....Who would be a better hire than Miles?
November 27, 200718 yr Speculation is that Carr has Parkinson's and that was one of the factors for his retirement. Secondly, there is talk that Carr is not a big fan of Les Miles due to Miles using Carr's health as a negative in recruiting.
November 27, 200718 yr Evidently Michigan doesn't think he's the best man for he job either. If they weren't satisfied with what they had, they'll look elsewhere. Also, for all this talk about "Michigan Men"... Can someone tell me what Bo's background was before coming to Michigan? My advice to the powers that be in Ann Arbor...forget about Michigan Men and find the best coach.
November 27, 200718 yr I don't like talking about Bo's career before he got to Michigan... :sssh:
November 27, 200718 yr I'll ask the question again, since no one wanted to answer it last time....Who would be a better hire than Miles? Jim Tressel :D
