December 12, 200718 yr I want an open house an invite everyone that is not in my school district. Go ahead. If YOUR school district accepts out of district students and you don't promote athletics I'm pretty sure that you could. Maybe you should bring it up to the powers that be in your school district...
December 12, 200718 yr Looking at the Tn. state finals, they have a split, several observations; Private school won in the Div. I with all the public, no one crying foul. Maryville High School wins 60 games in a row, 5 out of 6 state championships, no one wanting to kick them out of the division because of winning to much, independent or city school in great location. Folks seem to accept things more when attempts are made to level the field. I have found out that they split and use multiplier. What do they know or have found out, that we can't even seem to acknowledge? From top to bottom probally better high school football than we have.

December 12, 200718 yr Why can't we promote athletics,(the total school experience)? You can't exclusivley promote athletics. You can promote athlietics as part of the total school experience.
December 12, 200718 yr You can't exclusivley promote athletics. You can promote athlietics as part of the total school experience. I can't disagree with you as of now without knowing the truth. I will call the KHSAA and verify if we as a public school can do this. Open House for students not in our district that attend other middle schools in and outside of our county. Provide not only academic info, but also athletic. Promote our total school experience.(recruit students) You know, what a way to also bring our test scores up, by looking at applications with certain background information. WOW the possibilities. One question who is on the selection committee, our super is an old football coach would that come into play?

That might give an impresssion that something going on could be wrong, but it would be up to those accusers to prove something is being done wrong. I'm sure that if a star player on some High Schools team had Coaches as some of his teachers for class, someone is probably going to accuse those coaches of passing the athlete without having them do the work. If you are doing everything the right way, and nobody can provide legitimate proof you are doing wrong, then continue to do what you are doing to improve upon your school as best you can.

Are you talking about the students you would eventually accept? If so, private schools usually pay outside firms to handle that so nothing's suspicious, like an old football coach on the committee, would surface...
December 12, 200718 yr Can't spend that kind of money, we would have to select ourselves. I don't believe any of this would fly with the KHSAA, but we will find out if they will give us an answer.

Than you would be operating under a different set of rules than the privates are supposed to be operating under.
December 12, 200718 yr We are now. Privates don't care, do you? That little bit of an advantage will not make any difference will it?
December 12, 200718 yr Can't spend that kind of money, we would have to select ourselves. I don't believe any of this would fly with the KHSAA, but we will find out if they will give us an answer. Then you would be violating rules and would suffer KHSAA sanctions. Honestly, you're barking up the wrong tree. Private schools are abiding by the rules governed by the KHSAA. If you don't like that, take it up with the KHSAA. They love hearing from concerned members. If your school, which I'm guessing is public, wants to come up with the funds to operate as a private school that's their perogative. Suggesting anything they do is illegal is from a lack of knowledge...IMO.
December 12, 200718 yr The Private schools I know, don't pay for a selection committe. Who is the selection committee made up of?
December 12, 200718 yr The Private schools I know, don't pay for a selection committe. Who does? Cause they aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts.
December 12, 200718 yr Wait one of you say you do and the other says you don't. Help me is it against the rules or not?
