Too institutionally different

Honestly, every other state already thinks we're a bunch of rednecks and hicks. Could you imagine if we split our high school football into rural and urban classifications?

I can think of a few nicknames right now...

Heck, we still ask our governor and lt. governor whether they have participated or seconded a duel.:irked:

I have often wonder what if Bell Co had advertisements, like billboards in the accomplishments of Coach Hilton and like the signs of the old Reds, Bobcat Fever, Catch It, on billboards in surrounding counties promoting athletics in Bell. Flyers sent to church youth groups, youth leagues and little leagues incouraging kids to come to Bell. With open enrollment would this be wrong? Would this be recruiting if we were just showing what we offered academically and in athletics? Not to mention ads in the paper. Wonder what would happen?

I don't see any problem with the Bell Co. school systems touting all positive aspects of a possible High School expereince. If thier school board wants to decide to accept out of district students from other counties, what would be the problem with that.

No problem with the students.

What about the way we would get them with this type of advertisement. Is it not recruiting? Do you have a problem with that?

I don't think it is a wise use of public funds for public schools to spend school funds advertising for students outside of the district they are responsible for when classrooms are short computers, teachers are short resources and student activities need to be funded.

It would HAVE to be as you don't have to recruit at a public school to get students. Recruiting of all students IS NOT necessary for your survival.

You are right. I would not choose to use the funds that way, but the fact that there is a choice is what I agree with.

This is actually the problem I have with the mind set of private schools. They really don't think that they are recuiting, and that there policies make it easier to do so, while offering finanical aid.

Covercorner didn't even think of the way we would get the students would be wrong. Targeting youth leagues ect......

Lets say Boosters wanted to.....

There are KHSAA guidelines that should deal with any issues of recruiting, and I would imagine you could go on the website and see some examples of what is allowed.

There is also a section on there that deals with any school(Public or Private) that requires tuition, and a section that covers all dealings of Financial Aid. The KHSAA has approved a third-party outside the state (Minnesota maybe?) service, that looks at Financial aid, similar to the way a Pell Grant or loan would be given to a college student.

I'm speaking of Athletics...This is an athletic board....We are talking athletics and the advantages.....

I go beyond that and say it borders on financial irresponsibility to do it.

The KHSAA is the athletics association and covers financial aid to athletes.

You are missing my point..........I have rich uncle that is going to give us money only if we do this.......my point is I believe it is wrong to recruit, and this is recruiting. It is a loop hole for those that want to recruit athletes.

How do you propose that privates get their students if they are not allowed to recruit their students? Notice I said students and not athletes.
