Too institutionally different

Oh yeah, I forgot about that proposed comprimise, something like 30 miles? Wouldn't make a difference for Jefferson Co. open enrollment schools though would it.

I haven't heard anything about 30 miles. Thought it was going to be state border. If they allow someone leaving in WV but only a mile from the KY border, they should allow all West Virginians.

Do the kids at St. Julian play for thier own middle school teams, or do they participate in another youth leauge? I don't know.

St Julian to my knowledge has no teams, Gateway Christian in Middlesboro has a middleschool basketball. These are K-8 schools to the best of my knowledge.

Why should a kid that goes to a certain elementary school be locked in to a certain high school?

If not then there should be no recruiting violations. We all should be able to recruit students.

I think that was part of it as well. I'm sure it's in a prior thread. I personally don't have a problem with whatever rule is used for out of state kids, all or nothing. However, the Diocese of Lousiville does encompass Southern Indiana, and any grade school there obviously is a direct feeeder. I know the boundaries of the Diocese of Lexington end at the borders of KY to the east.

And if they were locked into a High School by going to St. Julian, they would have to go to thier only direct feeder---Lexington Catholic High School.

This is why there needs to be a split. I agree with you.

YOU CAN!!!

You can NOT recruit athletes. You know what an easy way to recruit students is, having outstanding test scores. It takes care of itself...

I'm assuming that Bell Co. doesn't have a private school then? If that's the case, what would a split solve? Bell can get kids from Lexington...

CC and I just answered most of your questions, admitting that a public school can do all of the same things that a private does to attract student athletes. Problem is, your public school would now be deemed private, and that wouldn't sit well with most.

There are zero restrictions on what they're doing. ZERO!!! If your public school wants to do that, have at it.

Don't agree. There would be charges of misuse of funds for the administration.

Here is what Lexington Catholic has done to provide a service for studnets of St. Julian and other feeder schools.

St. Julian probably does not have the numbers to even field a team, as do the majority of Catholic grade schools in the Diocese. So Lexington Catholic created a team so all of those 6,7, and 8 graders have an opportunity to participate on a team. Only members of Catholic feeder schools can participate though. A kid that goes to Tates Creek middle cannot play for the Lexington Catholic Middle team.

Of course, no parent is going to drive thier kid from Middlesboro to Lexington practice with the Lexington Catholic Middle school, so in situations like this, Lexington Catholic allows all grade school students to play on any other team they would like, if they are eligible by the rules of whatever team they would like to play.

Could the administration not fundraise for this. Priavate schools must in order to.

Whose problem is that? Right, YOUR districts...

Bottom line, as you've proved even more. THE fundamental difference is SUPPORT. Parental, financial and otherwise...

How is it the district's problem that some taxpayer sues them for misuse of funds?

Yes and if it were done it would have to be done this way. Or a donation for this use.

It's ours I guess. This is why we want to split from you. You have proven the difference. So can we split from you Sticky.

Obviously the only way anyone can sue is if funds were used to attract students and it didn't work. I'd say that it's the district's problem because they hired the people in charge. If they're dumb enough to go forward with a bad plan, maybe they should be sued. Again, it's support...
