December 13, 200718 yr You're not private I'm not complaining about Highlands, and never will. But they have alot of advantages that not even all Private schools have.
December 13, 200718 yr Only takes 1 with an ax to grind. Problem is that you raise the tuition level to the amount that truly helps you garner more money and they cannot afford it. Remember no financial assistance to public schools. They pay the full amount of tuition unless the previous district releases state funds and I don't think that happens a lot. I can't imagine that a public school's out of district "tuition" is going to be more than a private school's tuition. Those parents are going to have to be committed financially regardless.
December 13, 200718 yr But they have alot of advantages that not even all Private schools have. Are you talking about Urban/rural, travel or ??? Those issues don't hold water with me.

December 13, 200718 yr Are you talking about Urban/rural, travel or ??? Those issues don't hold water with me. Highlands is an Open Enrollment/Independent School in a very fast growing, highly populated Urban Area. These are advantages that Behtlehem Private High School doesn't have. All of the things that Highlands can do are great for them.
December 13, 200718 yr According to some, we're close. Also, I refuse to support any movement that splits high school kids playing sports against other high school kids... So lets talk about extreme, you would let me go get an AAU football team from all over the country compete in your district as long as it is high school kids.

December 13, 200718 yr To clarify, as long as rules governed by the KHSAA are abided by... That is where I believe in fair play in constucting that team comes in play. KHSAA doesn't cover fair play in this area. As all things do with loop holes ...ect they will evolve to do so. They will address this. Do you not think they will or just upset that they will.
December 13, 200718 yr I can't imagine that a public school's out of district "tuition" is going to be more than a private school's tuition. Those parents are going to have to be committed financially regardless. So, now we have hit upon two problems. Attending an out-of-district school is NOT an option to everyone as some families cannot afford the tuition. And..... Beechwood's was listed as $6,000 on here. Private schools can be more but they receive financial assistance that can cut it down to 50% which would make it less than Beechwood's. And remember you cannot receive financial assistance for Beechwood's.

I think what sticky posted was a bit extreme, but I think a split between public and private will be too extreme as well. If what LBBC posted some time ago were put in place, I could deal with it, because it doesn't too negatively affect smaller private schools as seperation does. Lunch Time. I'm get hungry when I debate.:argue:

I kinda understand the money following students from out of district, and assume that would have something to do with it. LBBC, isn't this something that would be a good example to go to educational vouchers?:sssh:
December 18, 200718 yr In the midst of all the debate, I've never heard anyone ask what, to me, is the most obvious question: Why would a parent/family who is paying their full share of property taxes (home, auto, securities, utilities, insurance, etc) going to support the public schools, agree/decide to send their child to a private school and pay, in addition to the above taxes, the tuition and fees of the private. What are they looking for in the private they can't get from the public system (exclude the obvious of relegion)?
