A few interesting tidbits I pulled from the "Massey Ratings" which besides the BGP rankings...:sssh:, seem to be the most accurate of all the ratings.

 

 

*Mayfield is ranked #2 in Class A, Frankfort is #5.

*Mayfield's Offense is #8 in Class A, Frankfort is #5.

*Mayfield's Defense is #1 in Class A, Frankfort is #7.

*Mayfield's Schedule is #1 toughest in Class A, Frankfort is the 14th toughest.

This is what the Massey ratings say?? Where did they have Mayfield ranked when the AP poll had them ranked at #7? I would have figured that the Fulton City win would have bumped us up, but to #2?

I think that is more due to a much larger concentration of site members in that part of the state and Mayfield's late season problems that resulted in 3 straight losses. The loss to Calloway was bad but the Fulton City loss had to turn alot of heads outside of WKY. Few of those fans likely new Mayfield was multiple players short handed in that game.

 

If both are fully healthy and you compare I think Mayfield would be the favorite but then came the narrow win over Crittenden County in the playoffs. That one leaves even a homer like myself wondering about whether or not the Cards are back to where they appeared to be earlier in the year.

At the end of the regular season. Massey had Fulton City at #3, ahead of Mayfield and Frankfort.

Coming into Frankfort on 127, it's very easy to find the field... Once you cross over I-64, go 10 stoplights and you'll make a left....At the ninth stoplight, you'll start down a big hill, and once you reach the bottom of that hill, you'll be able to see the stadium lights on the left. Good luck finding parking, as it will be tight. But you can't really miss the stadium.

How could you really argue with FCity being 3rd. Only 1 loss and a win over Mayfield. At the time, they deserved that rating.

You can take rankings from different sources and pretty much spin them anyway you want. We all know when you take the field they don't mean a thing. Especially in class A where one key injury can change everything.

Mayfield was #4 coming into the Fulton City game and Fulton City was #3. Mayfield moved up to #2 this week and Frankfort stayed at #5. Remember, these ranking don't take into account people voting just on W/L records as some AP pollsters do. They are a culmination of the entire season thus far...

I really prefer the Massey because you can compare, Offense, Defense, and Strength of Schedule against opponents instead of just having a power ranking. IMO, Massey scores are usually close but I look more at their game score and not just the point spread. Usually this time of year those ranking mean diddley squat!:creepy:
