Help Get Joe Nuxhall Into the Hall of Fame!

Featured Replies

People from all over Reds-land are pulling together to see that Joe "The Ol' Left-hander" Nuxhall is nominated for this year's Ford C. Frick Award. This honor (given to baseball broadcasters) has already been won by Joe's broadcasting partner, Marty Brennaman. Now there's an effort underway to see that Joe gets this honor that he so deserves.

The Hall of Fame will include three fan-voted names among the ten listed on this year's award ballot. You can help, by visiting this site. You can vote for Joe once each day.

Incidentally, Joe is currently hospitalized with pneumonia, related to his most recent chemotherapy treatments.

I like Nuxy and all, but he is not that great of a broadcaster IMO....

I've placed my vote and will continue to do so.

Disagree with you. I can remember listening to Nuxhall, as a youngster.

He always did an outstanding job with Marty and called it, like he saw it. The famous phrase, "the 'ole left-hander rounding 3rd and heading for home", is one of my favorite all time comments.

On the radio, he made you feel like you could see the action. One of the best Baseball color commentators, in radio for many, many years. You hear the name Nuxhall and immediately associate it with the Reds.

On another note, I wonder how many votes Chris Welsh has received.

Maybe it's because I caught him on the tail end of his career, I just wasn't ever impressed with him.

I agree. There was nothing more exciting as a kid to hear Marty calling a homerun by the Reds with Joe in the background yelling "Get out of here, get out of here baseball"

I have a good idea for Reds land - why don't you all pull together and get the greatest Red's hitter of all time in the hall of fame?

See, what we remember is "Get out of here, get out of here baseball" on a pop up to short...

Sadly I think our generation missed Joe in his prime.

I voted.

Can we cast 2 votes? With Joe's death, he has a REAL shot to get in, but Rose deserves in based on numbers. BUT that is another thread for another time.

I don't see him on the list.
