Holmes receives NKOA Sportsmanship Award

Featured Replies

The Northern Kentucky Officials Association has awarded the Holmes Bulldogs football team with the sportsmanship award for this past football season. Holmes accumulated 85 out of 104 votes. An extremely impressive accomplishment for the Bulldog community and they should ALL be proud.

Congrats to the team, outgoing Seniors, Coach Lickert and his staff... A HUGE step for the Holmes program and despite not making the playoffs, this season can be deemed a success. At least, IMO...

Congratulations Holmes Bulldogs and Coach Lickert and staff. That is a very nice statement about your program. :thumb:

How ironic after the scene after the CovCath game.....

Please explain this "scene"...

Congratulatins Coach and most importantly, congratulations to the young men representing my beloved Holmes high School. It's great to see this kind of recognition finally making it's way to 26th & Madison. Thank you gentlemen and thank you coach Lickert.

Could explain why CovCath got no votes huh?

Excellent recongition for the Dogs community.

Congrats to Holmes!! :thumb: IMO, this is a huge step forward into the development of the program.

Great to hear that Holmes has won this award! It puts their difficult season in a very positive light, and shows that they've established a solid foundation for improvement.

Congrats Holmes on that award. To many times I think they get a bad rap because they are in Covington. Again Congrats to everyone. JD

Congrats Steve; tremendous and well-deserved honor for you, your team, your staff, and your administration.

This award was established two seasons ago and with the award is a check to the school's general scholarship fund to be used as school sees fit. This year's award was $600. Last year's winner was Ludlow High School.

At the annual business meeting of the football officials' association, each active official may vote for the one school out of the plus or minus 25 serviced by the NKOA which displayed best examples of consistent sportsmanship. All schools are listed on the ballot.

The money is raised by the officials themselves through various opportunities during the year.

The NKOA desires to make positive contributions to the schools we service and believes that this is an area where a valuable statement can be made.
