Barkley just said on PTI that in professional sports if you think the other team is running the score up on you then you should "take out" one of their best players.

I would hope not. Quit being a patsy and make a tackle if you're that concerned about Brady running up the score.

I love the fact the Patriots are running up the score. For folks that don't like it, maybe the NFL should meet with KHSAA and establish a running clock rule or something. Or they could do like "Madden" rules and have 28-0 skunk rule and the losing team has to quit. All of this talk is ridiculous and I personally see nothing wrong with completely dominating your opponent in a professional setting such as the NFL. I hope they go undefeated and run the score up on each opponent all the way through the Super Bowl. I hope someone hits Brady late, if they don't kill him, all it will do is make them run the score up even more. I love it.

One doesn't have to plan to injure another player, one just has to get caught up in the heat of the moment. That wouldn't make it intentional, all a guy has to do is loose his cool for a second and anything could happen. A harder than usual shot and Brady could go down with a concussion or who knows what else. If you don't think that could happen, you're kidding yourself.

I'm well aware that it could happen. I'm also aware that it would still be an intentional act to injure another player...and that is inexcusable and pathetic. Getting caught up in the heat of the moment is not a legitimate excuse...what are they going to do, plead temporary insanity? It would be a planned, pre-meditated act...period.

 

You think the Patriots wouldn't retaliate if something like that happened? Do you think another team is going to order something like that and put their own players at risk of the same thing?

 

Imagine if Redskins had done something like that...it's possible that the Patriots could have retaliated against that particular player, or worse, they do the same thing to Jason Campbell, or Portis or one the Redskins key players.

 

It's professional football...take it like a man, instead of acting like a baby.

I'm assuming that is a reference to me. To be clear, you initially said videotaping defenses and special teams is cheating, which it isn't, it's scouting.

Is there such thing as running up the score in Professional sports? I think that is the actual question here.

Sure you can run the score up in the NFL...the difference, IMO, is that this isn't high school or college were you get overmatched, helpless opponents who can't "fend for themselves" so to speak. These are multi-millionaire professional athletes, paid to play at the highest level...there is no room for pity and crying about getting beat too bad. To me, that would be more humiliating than getting beat 52-7...coming out after the game and crying like a little baby about it.

 

If you listen real close between gasps and sobs you can hear what these guys are really saying...."It's not fair. The Patriots are too good. Somebody better do something about it if they keep beating everyone so easy...like take one of their players out.";)

Scoring 4th quarter touchdowns ain't the problem, it's scoring PASSING TDs when the game is MORE than in hand instead of running the ball or kicking a FG on 4th and inches. If they can't keep you out of the end zone when you're running clock by just handing off, no big deal. When you're just trying to pad your numbers at that point in the game, you're just classless, at ANY level. That's why most teams just run the ball in that situation.
