October 17, 200719 yr If Woodson looks impressive, and the Cats win, he is the #1 candidate.....but he then has five more landmines to avoid. A win -vs- Florida is great, but what if there was a really bad loss to a lesser team afterwards?
October 17, 200719 yr Noone has the Heisman wrapped up this year. It is wide open with about 5-6 legit candidates. With so much football still left to play, there is no way it is wrapped up after this week. Like RP said, too many landmines for every candidate (except Brennan who should continue to put up huge numbers against the Sisters of the Poor Community College, Our Lady of Perptual Misery College and the like). I just would like to see both Andre and Brian in NYC for the award. Wouldn't that be a HUGE boost to football in the state and I can't think of 2 more deserving candidates. I enjoy seeing how much stock we put in what sportswriters say. At this point in the season, it is all just something to write about. Come November, the picture will be much more clearly in focus.
October 17, 200719 yr Woodson can book his flight to New York if the Cats win! I think unless he bombs the rest of the way out, he's at least invited.
October 17, 200719 yr Woodson may get an invite but the Heisman, is far from being decided. May be the most wide open ever. I'm do hope that either Woodson or Brohm wins it. Would say a lot about our great state, coaches, program and the collegiate athletes, who attend. I can see a player, that is not even getting much national exposure, making a run. No clear cut favorite this year and even if we don't want to believe it, the rankings effect the votes. Media/sports shows, can create a hype and deflate.
October 17, 200719 yr This is the "Gino Toretta" Syndrome. I think Woodson is far from the best player in the country which the Heisman is for or should be for. He is likely not even the best QB in the country. I think Brohm probably is, but Woodson has made up major ground. Best player in football to me is still Darren McFadden, but the cesspool which is known as Fayetteville, Arkansas has dampenedhis parade, even though it shouldn't. It will still be fun to watch as the season plays out. All the national pub is fntastic not only for Wodson but for UK.
October 17, 200719 yr Who cares about being invited... He is going to win................ Go Cats..........
October 17, 200719 yr I don't see him wrapping it up. He still has to go to Georgia and come back home and play the Vol's. The race for the Heisman looks pretty open as of right now, if Woodson has another big game then he will get closer to NY. But I wouldn't say wrap it up, but it would sure help.
October 18, 200719 yr Id say if Woodson wins against the Gators, wrap him up for not only Heisman, but for President, this is by far the best Cat's team ever. If they can beat the #1 team in the nation one week, then the next beat the defending champion Gators the next, Woodson deserves Heisman 100% no questions asked, period.
