Woodson can wrap up Heisman vs. Gators

Woodson can wrap up Heisman vs. Gators: If UK QB shines in back-to-back weeks vs. LSU, UF, how can he be denied?

The Kentucky Wildcats (6-1) could move closer to their first major bowl game since Bear Bryant roamed the sideline. The Florida Gators (4-2) could throw the SEC East race into some potential chaos.

All in all, Saturday’s Florida-Kentucky game is as interesting as it has been in a generation (Kentucky hasn’t won since 1986, the year before Tim Tebow’s birth).

Well, here’s a subplot that you probably hadn’t considered.

Kentucky quarterback Andre’ Woodson can wrap up the Heisman Trophy.

He can take a huge step forward, but still has some very tough games left where he must play well.

I wouldnt say wrapped up......but would be a big step toward new york

With five games to be played after Florida, I'd say it would be far from wrapped up.

You're right, way to premature to even have much of a favorite considering how crazy this season has been. Woodson is in the mix with about 8 or 9 others.

I wouldn't say wrapped up, but he would get an invite. If (and when :D) UK beats Florida that would make their 4th ranked (at one time or another) team they beat this year in 8 games.

Did Flynn damage his Heisman chances with his Lexington visit?

Did Flynn have Heisman chances? I don't consider him in that "league" and I'm not sure the voters did either.

As far as wrapping it up, ... a great performance and win against UF would make him the frontrunner, ... but there is still a lot of football to play and I don't think anyone can wrap it up right now. They can just enhance their stock for the Heisman.

Sadly, ... yes.

I would say so...and also I think that the Heisman voters would not vote for a quarterback in a two-QB system such as the one that LSU has employed this season. Flynn is a very good QB...but I feel like that any chance he had of creeping up in the talks took a huge hit Saturday at Commonwealth.

I think HHS was making a joke about the Heisman race being wide open. No, Flynn's name has never been mentioned for the award to my knowledge. He was never a contender IMHO.

It certainly would help his Heisman chances, but Mississippi State, Georgia, Vandy, and Tennessee might think something else entirely. I would certainly love to see him win, but I am more concerned about putting up W's and trying to win the SEC East than I am about accolades for individuals. Woodson winning the Heisman would certainly help in recruiting future Quarterbacks, but the W's help more in recruiting overall.

If he plays solid for the rest of the year that puts him in New York, IMO. If he plays outstanding and wins the thing it's simply icing on the cake.

Kinda like picking who plays in the BCS championship game.

CBS says if the season ended today, Woodson would be in New York and finish 2nd in the overall Heisman vote to BC's QB.

Just beat Florida and the Heisman will take care of itself. I am more concerned with the W's right now.
