As I previously posted, Russell is getting into the meat of their schedule, now comes Mason County and then Raceland, both passing teams.

Stats will show Devils Wing T up and down the field and SK big played it up and down the field. SK had kids to run passing offense in high school. They were not flashy but were very consistent in passing game. My hats off to this consistency , rare in high school ... Tony Franklin and OC couldn't do it in 2005 state championship , but SK did tonight... The catch the kid made on the last play was something to see and the face mask was obvious.... Devils will be better off in the long run ..

Congrats to both teams! Great game to watch, but Russell has to step up and stop the long pass. Where was the secondary tonite? This SK team was one dimensional and we still couldn't stop the big play. Their QB was excellent and they had a real receiver in #19. Morris has a lot of work to do if we are to go very deep in the playoffs. Mason Co. will give us fits if we don't fix the pass defense. I thought we should have kicked deep also with 11 seconds on the clock. Why give it to them on the 50 yrd line?

 

I was a little surprised that we just did not kick it out of bounds. The pass defense was bad at times. Then good at times. We did have two picks. Poor David Bailey has to be sick. I hate it for the poor kid.

Sounds like it was agreat game to watch. Tough loss for the Red Devils and I am sure that their coaches will have them ready to go for the next one. A program like Russell doesn't lose often and always comes back when they do.

I think the Belfry lines and defense will have something to say about that!

Pass Defense was bad because , lost bunch of experience and SK had good passing scheme that was consistent. Again rare in high school .. SK was consistent ... Ball was throw and caught every time .... Very few drops or bad passes , qb got hammered a couple times but was consistent ..

Mason County could possibly knock the Devils out of the playoffs if they are not mentally ready to "play the game" long before they would see Belfry.

 

Mason County would not knock Russell out of the playoffs if they won. Russell would just be 3-1 in districts and still be a playoff contender.
