Yes there were. Russell actually came out flat in the second half IMO. The only scores were two field goals. This was after they scored 35 in the first half. I think that contributed to the loss more than anything. We just could not close the deal.

I wished I could have made the trip to Russell, but I got to listen to it on the radio and go nuts when they called the facemask. I can only hope that this makes Simon Kenton play like they did against Russell and Ryle everynight and not like they did against Boone.

IMO, clock management was suspect in this one for the Red Devils. The simple solution would have been to let the clock tick down to 2 or 3 seconds before kicking the field goal. Then, time will expire on the field goal attempt.

You are the first person to mention this I believe and I honestly was wondering the same thing. I was surprised they didn't waste a few more seconds as well, although they probably figured just like the rest of us that 11 seconds wasn't going to be enough to score anyways.

How did that play out? Did Russell have a time out to waste in order to let the clock run down? If so, I'm surprised they overlooked that fundamental issue.

Thats not what I was saying. Russell very well could lose two in a row. I do hope the team is mad though. They should be.

Boone beat Mason 42-20 and then beat SK 41-3. I was simply implying how unexact it is to compare scores and come to a conlcusion about what the outcome will be when two good teams hook up next week.

Russell's long standing hoem winning streak is snapped in this one.

 

I think that this loss may be better for the Devils than a win though, SK exposed soem things the Devils can correct, and also gave McGlone and Co. an accurate read of just where they are at right now, and what it will take to get the train heading to Papa John's....

There will be no train this year, Breathitt, Belfry and Mason are all better in my opinion.
