EKUAlum05
In honor of Pardon the Interruption. Tell me whether you "Buy" or "Sell" each team's chances of making the state finals. Please provide reasoning if you choose. 1A Pikeville 2A Trigg County 3A Breathitt County 4A Lone Oak 5A Johnson Central 6A Lafayette
EKUAlum05
1A Pikeville- Assuming I am correct that Beechwood will not have to play the Panthers in the State-Semi's, I say BUY. The Panthers are absolutely stacked on offense with athleticism, and also has a ton of quickness on defense. 2A Trigg County- I like the Wildcats in the new classification, and I think that O'Cath and Ft. Campbell are a bit overrated out west, but I just don't see the Wildcats having the balance to knock off some of the traditiona namesakes in this class. SELL 3A Breathitt County- I'd really like the Bobcats' chances if they were in the Western side of the state, but the road to Louisville runs through either Russell/Mason County, and then either Belfry/Sheldon Clark/Somerset. SELL. 4A Lone Oak- Call me crazy but the Western side of 4A is acually wide open enough that a team who gets hot at the right time can make a run to the carpet. The Eastern half is definately stout with 4A's big swingers (Bell/LexCath), but I will BUY the Purple Flashes chances of making a miraculous run. 5A Johnson Central- Make no mistakes Johnson Central is an excellent football team who would probably make the finals in every class.... except 6A and probably 5A. The sad realization is, Highlands is absolutely loaded for bear this season and the eagles path runs right through Bluebird country. SELL. 6A Lafayette- The Generals have been consistently near the top of the heap of schools not named Trinity, Male, and StX. The Generals have had Henry Clay's number and have ebaten some very good big schools. The problem with the Generals has been having that letdown against teams they have already defeated in the playoffs. Lafayette has a stingy defense and one of their ebst offensive attacks in rceent years thanks to Logan bunch et all... and with the KHSAA's effort to pit the Big 3 against each other in the early rounds.. I will BUY Lafayette's chances of reaching the Finals to be the sacrificial lamb to whichever team survives Louisville.
oldrambler
The only one that I am real familiar with quite a few teams is in class A. As for Pikeville, I would say that it will be between the Panthers and LCA. I would really have to pick LCA in that one right now to advance to play Beechwood for a championship. As for the 3A on the Eastern side, I would pick Belfry out of the group that you mentioned with Breathitt just behind them. 5A Johnson Central is loaded as well as Highlands - a game between them and Highlands would be a classic. I believe that I might pick JCHS - more a heart pick than anything.
HT721
Tell me whether you "Buy" or "Sell" each team's chances of making the state finals. Please provide reasoning if you choose. 1A Pikeville-Sell, several good teams stand in there way including Lynn Camp, Williamsburg, Cumberland, and Evarts. Most notably though the biggest thing standing in Pikeville's way would be Lexington Christian. They are my pick right now to win 1A. 2A Trigg County-Buy not sure of anyone standing in their way at this point, but I don't know a lot about their competition. 3A Breathitt County-Buy although it's a 50/50 chance between them and Belfry from that side of the bracket. 4A Lone Oak-Sell I'll take Marion county coming out of this side of 4A. 5A Johnson Central-Sell, Highlands will win this side of the bracket. 6A Lafayette Sell, unfortunately they will be forced to meat up with Trinity to earn the right to go to the carpet, however unfair it is that Trinity and Saint X are on opposite sides of the bracket. If things were aligned by geography like they should be instead of political pull then I would buy, but as it is Trinity will take this side of the bracket. Neers 44
I'll sell Breathitt, and Belfry's chances from the eastern side, and buy Russell.
Morehead State
I'll sell Breathitt, and Belfry's chances from the eastern side, and buy Russell. What do you base your opinion on?

westsider
Trigg County has had no better setup to reach the 2A semifinals. Bardstown, Danville, Owensboro Catholic and Fort Campbell are on the other side of the western bracket and would pay Trigg a visit. Lone Oak has a high-powered offense, a great QB and a great coach in Jack Haskins, but Warren East looks pretty strong, too.
AnswertheBell
1A Pikeville slim chance. Sell the rest.
pallex32
Buy breathitts chances to making it to state. Their offense is second to none. Defense may have a few snages along the way but Breathitt will be playing in the ville this december.

Son of Bear
6A Lafayette.......Sell.........So what if they go 9-1 or 10-0 against a soft schedule, and they beat Henry Clay during the regular season? They have been bounced the last three seasons in the 1st round by Madison Central (04), South Laurel (05), and Woodford County (06) and all were not close games....until they can win a playoff game, I don't see how anyone could buy Harmon's team to do anything in the playoffs. MountainThunder
1A Pikeville - Buy. I think that Pikeville has been building back for this year and are a solid 1A team. 2A Trigg County - I really don't know enough to make an educated guess. 3A Breathitt County - Buy. Colby Fugate is a solid ballplayer and the Bobcats seem to be playing very well so far. 4A Lone Oak - Sell. I am not sure they are ready for the big boys yet. 5A Johnson Central - Buy. Matney has this program rolling along and believe with Grimm, they are legit. 6A Lafayette - Sell. The Lex schools will still struggle in competing with the Ville teams. JohnnyDrama
1-A Pikeville: I'm just not sold on Pikeville this year. Everyone keeps saying they're better than the team I keep touting in 1A (Frankfort), but we'll have to wait and see. SELL. 2-A Trigg County: I'm predicting a Green County/Trigg County matchup somewhere down the line, with Green coming out on top. SELL. 3-A Breathitt County: 3-A is a tough class to pick for me, so I'm neither buying nor selling. 4-A Lone Oak: They'll probably run into Bell County before they reach the carpet. SELL. 5-A Johnson Central: It'll be interesting to see if they can make it through. I'm hoping for a matchup against John Hardin. BUY. Johnson Central 6-A Lafayette: The Generals are good, but they'll likely run into one of the vaunted Louisville teams before making it to PJCS. SELL.
