UK was able to partially contain Davis and co. last year from Clemson, why can't the D shut down McFadden and Jones?

 

Because IMO Davis and Spiller are very, very good but McFaden and Jones are on a different level.

 

Last year...

James Davis - 1,187 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.

CJ Spiller - 938 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.

Combined - 2,125 rushing yards 27 touchdowns.

 

Daren McFaden - 1,647 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns

Felix Jones - 1,168 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns

Combined - 2,815 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns

 

So far this year McFaden and Jones have rushed for 571 yards and 4 td's.

I don't see Kentucky holding either one of these two and Arkansas wins this one..

I think it will be high scoring . Should be tight until the end. UK needs to get the kicking game in order, as they might need a clutch kick to pull this one out. No more missed extra points!Cats in a close one, Maybe.:creepy:

I wasn't comparing QBs, but the Offenses and I'd take mine. Our wideout set a Bama record held by Ozzie Newsome. We had nine returning starters from last year, now on the other hand the Cats have a very good one also and I wouldn't kick them out of my huddle.

Upset? Bama was favored, I am thinking a lot of UK fans will be surprised this weekend. For the 71 who voted for the win, I hope for your sake that McFadden is out.

 

How was Bama favored, Arkansas was in the top 25 and Bama wasn't. To me that makes the Hogs the favorite last week.

 

McFadden won't beat UK alone, this is a different UK defense that last year.

If I'm UK, I'm gonna stack the box (and that still might not slow down McFadden!). Arkansas would have to beat me through the air.

Rookie, you need to see the Cats put 41 on the Hogs to be equal with Bama.

Arkansas does a great job of getting McFadden the ball in different ways...they play him at QB and he's a real threat to pass so you have to respect that....they're pretty creative with him, so you can just come up with a regular game plan to try to shut him down because they do more than line him up at HB and hand him the ball. He's a great back, so I figure he'll have plenty of success against UK.

 

Here are my keys:

-No turnovers on special teams or offense.

-Don't give up any special teams TD's.

-The offense has to play well and produce some points.

-The defense has to understand they probably won't shut McFadden down, but they need to minimize the big plays. They must stop Arkansas when they get them in favorable 3rd down situations. There should be a few times when Arkansas gets pushed back due to a nice play by the defense or a penalty...UK really needs to capitalize on these chances and get McFadden off the field. I think that's a huge key to the game...not so much shutting him down, which is almost impossible, but taking advantage of the chances you do have to get the Arkansas offense off the field.

In my pre-season predictions, I picked the Hogs 31-24. I am changing that to Kentucky 34-30.
