What I saw before the game was great. Fans of both teams interacting with one another and just having a good time. T-gated with many UL fans and the rivalry is definitely a friendly one. People in blue and red wishing each other luck and embracing the environment around. I hope to make it to Louisville for next years game.

I think his speed has improved dramatically since last year but he has terrible hands and focus.

 

Maybe, but his speed doesn't impress me. He's got a lot of improving to do.

 

He's definitely got the potential...it wouldn't surprise me to see him switched to TE in the NFL and used kinda like Gates for San Diego...that is assuming he reaches his potential, or somewhere close.

You crack me up. :lol: Changing the date of the game had ZERO impact on recruiting, or the importance of the win. UK defeating their in-state rival, and a Top 10 ranked team is big. It might not be the top story nationally, but it is here, in the Bluegrass State.

 

I read over and over again that we'd wait to see the outcome of the game to see if it was a good move by UK to change the date. Well, we've seen the outcome, I believe its time to put it to bed. Let's move on to the next game

I'm not even going to read the previous posts in this thread. I just want to congratulate the Cats, and ESPECIALLY Coach Brooks. If there is one thing I can be happy about, relative to the Cat's win over my beloved Cards, it's that Coach Brooks is proving that Mitch Barnhart was right to hire, right to keep him and a coach "worthy" of coaching at UK. I have HATED some of the things I've heard and read about Coach Brooks and his abilities. Great win, Coach! Congratulations!

I've been a Brooks supporter from the get go and believe me...it's been tough, but he's sure made it a lot easier on us over the past year.

 

People got too caught up in his overall record at Oregon instead of focusing on how low that program was when he got there and where it was when he left. Brooks is the right man for this job, IMO, and from all I can tell he's trying to do it the right way. Do I hope we can get a better coach at some point? Absolutely. But, UK's program isn't at a point where that's even a possibility, but I think Brooks can get us to a place where the UK job might be attractive to potential coaches when he leaves. Kinda like Oregon...

 

I like Brooks and I also think Joker is a very good OC (despite that 4th and 1 option call :irked: )...the jury is still out on the DC, but I like the fact that they held the U of L offense to 1 TD in the second half.

My brother from Texas called me yesterday to ask me about Kentucky's win over Louisville. He wondered where the coverage was on the last TD by Johnson. My uncle e-mailed me from California. He was born and raised in Louisville and said he saw the highlights Sunday morning. My cousin from Wisconsin called me and said he lost $50 betting on Louisville. I think it's safe to say that news of Kentucky's win over Louisville found a way to escape the borders of the Commonwealth Saturday night.

 

As far as moving the game, a win over Louisville in any week does more good for the program NOW and in the future than getting drummed in front of a national audience. People make it sound like Kentucky's only motive for moving the game was to keep it off national TV. I can see why they moved it to week three. It's called scouting Louisville in weeks one and two. You can't tell me that Kentucky didn't exploit things Saturday that they had seen against Murray State and MTSU.

 

The bottom line is, as everyone knows, it's about winning. Kentucky catches more flack for losing to non-conference Louisville than they do SEC opponents Tennessee or LSU. UK has been losing the in-state recruiting battle with Louisville, which has been dictated by wins in the series.

 

Call it chicken. Call it a bad move. UK folks call it a win. Over Louisville. On live TV. Everything else is just conjecture and sour grapes because no one really knows how this will play out in the grand scheme of things.

 

UK moved the game. Big deal. They play first next year and every other year. I'm amazed at how many people are making such a big deal about this. If you drove around your community Saturday night, I'm sure you saw gatherings of people at homes with a dish. It's not like NO ONE saw the game.

I was baffled that this thread had somehow turned into a debate about the game being played in week 3 and that UK had somehow missed the boat and made a terrible mistake. The beat U of L. Period. Huge win for the program. It sends an early message that last year wasn't a fluke. Some would make it sound like this game didn't even happen because it wasn't the season opener...

 

If the national interest in UK/U of L is as low as some say, then why on earth should we expect anyone outside of the state of KY to spend 3 or 4 hours of their Sunday on Labor Day Weekend to watch the game.

What are you talking about Swamp Thing, Bill Curry was the one who was smart enough to leave Tim Couch on the side line his entire fresman year and then put him in the last 2 games wasting his red shirt year. He also punted against Auburn on 4th and 5 from the 50 yd line down 42-0. What a genius !!:thumb:

UK fans must be patient with next year's edition who will play without the likes of Woodson, Little, Tamme, Burton, and Woodyard.

 

Also, I would think the offense will also get tweeked with Curtis Pulley the frontrunner for the quarterback position.

No verbals but recruits interest in UK went up.

One kid from Texas can envision verbaling to UK shortly.

Made a positive impact on a DL from South Carolina, and a few from Georgia...

Ulinski and Robey from Kentucky and another kid from Lexington.

 

Jeff Drummond is reporting that LexCath 4 star S Winston Guy has decommited from Arkansas and is strongly considering UK now...

Here is an interview with Eric Scott. You might remember him from what could have been the most infamous penalty in UK history. I came away very impressed with the kid after hearing this interview. He handles himself very well and is a fine speaker...
