Apparantly at least a couple of dozen people must have noticed our in state battle. UK went from receiving no votes in the AP Poll to 21st, 9 votes in the USA Today Poll to 23rd, and from receiving NO votes in the ESPN Fan Poll to 17th. You know you would think that most of those fans must have heard of the upset to enter the poll that high. I guess if it would have been played on Labor Day Weekend UK would have entered into the Top 10. Their presence in the Fan Poll (although they are ranked too high) should speak volumes about the coverage that the game's outcome received nationally.

I am a bit upset the UC win on October 13th won't mean as much. Sagrin has UC at #6 this week... :jump:

I was more concerned with the Fan's Poll. Which, while unquestionably the least accurate of the bunch, is the one that reflects the public's thoughts on the teams. Obviously UK wasn't on their minds at all the first two weeks but it seems as though news of UK's win must have managed to reach people outside of The Commonwealth somehow. After all UK manage to almost reach the top 15. Their ranking is way too high and may very well disappear after Saturday's trip to Arkansas but it is obvious that the UL win received enough attention from the rest of the USA to have a huge impact on UK's overall profile.

I have no idea what point you're trying to make in that comparison. I don't think I said anything about the win suddenly changing UK's overall profile. What I was pointing out is that the win received plenty of national exposure and that is obvious from the Fan's Poll. You can maintain that UK didn't receive as much notice from a week 3 win as they would have from playing the game during week 1. What you can't do is offer any proof, especially since UK won, that they failed to achieve the same level of exposure. After all, if it hadn't have been for the first two games would UK's staff have been able to see and exploit UL's defensive shortcomings? We'll never know--I'd rather take a win on week 3 on ESPN Classic than what might have been a close loss on week 1 on the big channel. That certainly wouldn't have gotten UK as much attention and since neither you nor I have a time machine.........The only things that can be said with any certainty is that UK has its first win over a top 10 team in 30 years, they are now 11-5 since the beginning of 2006 and the rest of the country has started to take notice.

In the end UC beat a Rutgers team at home after the Scarlet Knights emotional high of sneaking out a win over who? Both UK and Rutgers have a miserable football history, and some how both programs are now validated by beating UL. Here's to capturing the win that validates UC football on October 13th... :lol:

So, let's say that it had gone by your scenario, and getting late in the game, with the Cards having just scored and leading 35-34, given that UK had converted that phantom 2-pt. conversion, then the Cats chew up some clock and score another TD and, since there's under 3 minutes left in the game, UK attempts and, again, converts another 2-pt conversion, making the score then 42-35. Then, with some good passing and clock management, and a little better luck, the Cards do score that late TD! Do they then kick the extra pt. to tie the game, since they're the visiting team, satisfied with sending it into OT. Or, do they go for the win by attempting a 2-pt. conversion since they're on the road? :eek:

Of course, this scenario would have existed only had the Cats gone for, and converted, that phantom 2-pt conversion. Otherwise, the Cards win the game with the 6 pts. from the TD, not even needing to kick that final PAT since there was no time left on the clock. Also, if the Cards do put up that TD at the end of the game, they only needed to kick the PAT, and win the game. So, were those 2 pts. not important? Pap and I both still think they were! :thumb:

 

You have Kentukcy converting 2 two point conversions. Wow. Why don't they just go for 2 everytime since it's that easy. You and Pap are the only ones who would have gone for two.Most coaches keep a chart of score scenarios, and when to go for two, and I can assure you that 99% of the coaches would not have gone for two in those earlier situations.
