I had the spread right and was close on the score. This game is always a dandy that comes down to the wire. Ashland appears to have showed some life tonight. Congrats to the Devils on the win and good game by the Tomcats.

Seems that Russell has brought the best out of Boyd and Ashland this year...too bad Boyd and Ashland cant put together good games against all the other teams they have played.

 

Of course by looking at the final score...that makes Ashland and Boyd a pretty good matchup right now..playing Russell the same and both being 0-4.

Much better showing for the young Tomcats. Russell won and I had Ashland picked by 2 in an upset. For a short while there I thought that I was going to predict this game right again this year :eek: . Congrats to the Red Devils on the win :thumb: and I am glad that it was a close game and not the blowout that most everyone thought that it would be.

Maybe somone will comment on it, it was something about a referee that should not have been on Russell's sideline or something. I am not sure, if I am wrong I apologize but that is what I think it was about. Anyway, whatever it was about he was going nuts! :laugh:

He said that the Assigning Secretary of Officials is a Russell assistant coach, and that he was talking to one of the officials late in the game. He was stating that it was a conflict of interest to do both jobs. Who is the assigning secretary now that Crager retired?

I am not sure but I think tht it is Bill Heaberlin.

It was a great game. Ashland is MUCH better when Thomas is in the backfield and #3 is under Center. They came out that way in the second half and ended up taking the lead. The go ahead drive for Russell Ashland committed a personal foul and (I think) unsportsmanlike conduct and spotted Russell 30 yards. Some dumb penalties on both sides of the ball.

 

It was great to see Russell come out and play with some emotion tonight. And it was nice to see there is still some fight left in the Tomcats...even if their mascot got chased away by a bunch of rowdy Russell kids! :ylsuper:

Bill Heaberlin is the assigning secretary and an assistant coach at Russell, and his dad runs the clock at Russell home games. Dickey Marting went off over all of this. He sounded pretty bad bring all this up.

Good high school game , Devils learn more about themselves and still get the W ... Thomas looks more at home at tailback ... Ashland is on a path to win some games .. Much improved , much less dazzle and good soild play ...
