Ahh who cares if it was a flop, it was a smart play regardless. I'll take that kind of heads up play from a sophomore anyday. Players and teams have been doing that for ages and will continue to do that for ages. If Russell fans were in the same situation they would have been glad one of their players was smart enough to realize the situation and go down to stop the clock. Carter's toughness, skills, and desire to win are impressive for such a young kid. With the original O-line hopefull healthy next week maybe he can spring for another 200+ yards.

Seems like a logical statement to me. Could you imagine if Ashland's defensive coordinator Tony Love was the assigning secretary? Ashland fans would NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT!

That is far from all that was said. He complained through the 4th quarter and into the post game show about how ludacris it was and he even started to bring the clock operator into it at well.

Dickie's ok ... He's part of the show. Ashland is lucky to have someone so dedicated to the Tomcats. Where was everyone else from Ashland. We travel more to Putnam for freshmen K Bowl.

I really thought Ashland Football looked much better tonight , much less college flash of recent years , just straight forward high school football , they hit , blocked and tackled , where has this been ? ... Ashland may have righted the ship from a coaching standpoint...

 

Russell kids chasing the Tomcat was priceless. I was hoping one would get his tail ...

Congratulations to Russell on the win. I was there, and yes our fans were few. But, they missed a good game. Much better than most predicted.

 

Ashland improved a lot between last week and this week. I knew they were a better team than they have shown in the first 3 games. They need to get just a little bit better.

 

It was to be expected that our inexperienced team would take it on the chin early in the season. Now its mid-season and they are beginning to get their act together. Next week is our first district game – looks like we might be about ready.

Ryan Bonner was definitely a bright spot last night. He FINALLY was involved in Ashland's passing game. We will need big plays from him down the stretch! It was also nice to see Jeremy Nethercut back and contributing!

Dickie's ok ... He's part of the show. Ashland is lucky to have someone so dedicated to the Tomcats.

:thumb: You are correct. Martin is by far the best play by play man in our region. Yes, he is a homer and imo he should be. I can look past all that stuff and enjoy his broadcast. Some love him and some hate him but he is the best in broadcasting a game.

After his comment about the assigning secretary he said that the officals had nothing to do with Ashland getting beat. Dirk and Dickey also made the comment what fine people Bill Heaberlin and his father are outstanding gentleman. The bottom line on his statement was it was a little odd to see the assigning secretary on the sideline coaching football.

I had a friend who was smart enough to do the same thing in 5th grade. It doesn't take a brilliant mind to figure out that faking an injury will stop the clock. It is however against the rules although impossible to inforce. To Carters credit he plays extremely hard and seems to be very competetive. He was very impressive with his play last night.

Russell's radio broadcast is MUCH better this year. They do a great job in calling the game and giving you a feel for what is going on.

Tony Love is the defensive coordinator for Ashland like you said. Bill is an assistant coach for the freshmen team and doesn't have anywhere near the same involvement. It's comparing apples and oranges.
