I don't believe he has ever played or coached football.

I played Jr High(1983-84) football at Raceland with Coach Hamilton as my coach. He is very knowledgible as a football coach. I think he will do a fine job. His true LOVE is Baseball and he will tell anyone that.

You're prejudging myself and the opinions I have, based off I'm a baseball person....That is fine but I have no idea, how Coach Hamilton will do as a Football coach, at West Jessamine but I wish him and the program, the best.

As for tension at Boyd County, didn't he want raises for his assistant coaches and they weren't granted, so he left....I know several other aspects but I'll let those be but I admire his loyalty and character.

I think that there was more to it than that. I thought he was going to coach college somewhere but I guess not.....

If you ask the football folks at Boyd County they will tell you that West Jessamine has the fox watching the hen house!

That is a great way to state it. I am still laughing from reading that line. From my knowledge of the athletic programs at Boyd Co. I would have to agree completely. I will also say that I know Coach Hamilton and he can't stand to lose, so I am sure he will put everything he has into making this program successful. I would guess his tenure will be brief, probably until another suitable candidate is found.

Does the administration want to win? Will they hire someone of the quality of Hamilton(baseball) and Flener(basketball)? Is there a feeder system in Jessamine county?

I am not sure how good of a Coach Jody will be in Football, but he was a very good Baseball Coach @ Boyd. Obviously his judgement of wanting kids to play Baseball only, could definetly affect some of his decisions. I believe most Baseball Coaches, including Jody, that wants their Baseball players to strictly stick with Baseball do not care if they play Football, because that really is the only sport that does not interfere with Baseball. Most Baseball Coaches do not want their players to play Basketball, because it runs into the beginning of Baseball. Just my opinion anyway.

On the flip side, it seems like Jody Hamilton was an Asst. Football under Coach Tom Ross while at Raceland High School...Maybe someone else could confirm that. Very interesting though.

He was a asst. coach with B.T. Ross not only that Hammy is also a decent basketball coach too.

Wouldn't the logical choice for a interim coach be an Assistant, one that is familiar with the play calling and the defense. I'm sure Coach Hamilton is capable of the job, but I would think bringing in somebody not currently on the football staff would create even more confusion for the players.

What about Fall Baseball???

I just don't see it. His reputation is to hoard players. Now that may disputed, and I hope it is, but ANY stipulation that a player can't play another sport in High School is a gross injustice to the kid and the program as a whole.

Didn't one of Fulton County's head coaches just up and leave in the middle of the night? No note. No speech. No nothing. Just pulled a Baltimore Colts and left.
It was Fulton County ... not Fulton City. My bad.
I'm sure he has his reasons, like stated by swforver, tough on the players. I hope Coach Hamilton can keep the season on the right path.

Did he ever help football at Boyd County?

Coach Hamilton was an assistant football coach at Raceland for several years. He is a very knowledgeable football coach and I say he will do a good job. He is very competitive and will hopefully instill that in the players. I think coach Hamilton will be a fine interim choose. I'm not sure why an assistant coach wasn't chosen, but aside from that choose, I would say Coach Hamilton was a good selection.

Coach Hamilton is a decent football, and basketball coach, and a very good baseball coach. Most people know him as a baseball coach, but that is not the end of his coaching talents. Jody Hamilton will be as as good or better then any selection that could have been made.

Good luck to Coach Hamilton and his team, in the remainder of the season.

I hate it for the kids.

That is what it is all about. The kids will suffer.

The kids were suffering under the old coach, they were very unorganized and poorly coached.

The kids were already suffering. This move may be a positive step. Lets face it they don't have anywhere to go but up.
