A big part of Highlands win yesterday was the disparity in the kicking game. How does Holmes fare in that department?

It needs some work.

If Highlands has a big time letdown from last week they should win the game handily. If they come with their A game then it will be ugly.

Not very well. This has been a part of their game that has been lacking the past couple of years. They did actually pick up a kicker this year and he seemed to have improved from week one. As for returning kicks the Dawgs are very dangerous in this aspect of the game. Rashaad Palmer and James Miller are both threats to take it all the way on any given play.

However, the dawgs still have some discipline problems. Field discipline. They make a lot of mental mistakes. They managed to overcome some of those last week but going against the birds will be a different story. If they make those kind of mistakes early in this game they may not be able to load that annoying cannon in Ft. Thomas fast enough. With that being said.

My prediction is Birds 45- Dawgs 7

This will not be a good game. If it is anything different, I will be thoroughly suprised. Holmes just isn't at the same level as Highlands and probably won't be for a long time. You have to remember, Holmes did just lose to Dayton. The score on friday will depend on how long Highlands leaves their first (or second) string in OR it will depend on how early there is a running clock.

My prediction:

Highlands- 56

Holmes- 0

The way DB is kicking, there will be no return game on kickoffs. I'm comfortable that the Birds punt cover team is up to the task if called upon. not sure they will see much action though. My prediction, Highlands very big in this one.

49-0 birds

Holmes will not score, 2nd half jv game

Highlands-56

Holmes-0

Only question is how early the running clock kicks in--perhaps in first half--and how the subs/JV looks in getting some extended time toward earning a varsity letter. In any event game should be over by 9:00.

Nice scheduling job by HHS for this home breather following their very short practice week after an tough, physical and emotional win over Trotwood. Looking ahead it looks for the most part they have done a good scheduling job overall in primarily scheduling easier games or a bye after tougher contests. Plenty of stiff challenges to prepare them for playoffs with road games at Dixie, CovCAth, LexCath and Louisville Central (Ranked 2nd in state in Class 3A where Highlands would be playing based on actual size) and Hoptown at home but hopefully not a schedule that has them beaten up by playoff time.

I'm sure that the coaches and team aren't counting on the blowout envisioned by some folks in this thread. They know they can't take any opponent for granted. They'll be properly prepared for a tough battle.

I know you are trying to keep this honest, but lets be serious here. This year's Holmes team is pretty similar to any team Highlands has played the first round of the playoffs in the last few years. If we can score over 40 points on a good Ryle team, just think of the damage we will inflict on a below average Holmes.

I believe in respecting every opponent. Failing to do so can lead to very undesirable surprises. Just ask Michigan.

I wouldn't be counting your eggs before they are hatched DollarBill. When Highlands coaching staff scheduled Holmes last year I don't think they could have envisioned the coaching changes at Holmes. Coach Lickert took a team at Dayton that was 9 and 45 and transformed them into a 14 and 16 team in 3 years (I could be a little off on the wins and losses but they are close). The Holmes staff has a bunch of athletic kids to work with. If the staff can get their athletes heads on straight I think we all might be suprised. :D

Will be a massacre. The only question will be how gracious HHS will be. HHS has put down a very good Ryle team handily and a national powerhouse in back to back weeks. HHS 62 Holmes 0...
