Highlands/Beechwood Scrimmage

HHS was missing Cecil,Hurrt,Crawford, and somebody else that is slipping my mind. Needless to say HHS didn't have all of their starters either....

Somewhat of a bad post on my part after I read it. I in no means meant for anyone to interpret what I said to mean that BHS would of, could of beat HHS w/the missing kids. I was commenting on the bad snap statement and HHS running up the middle so easy. I know who was missing from HHS's line-up.

As for the comment about the line looking out of shape, what team wouldn't look out of shape that goes both ways against a team who is rotating O lines and D lines in and out against you. HHS is loaded as usual. For you all out there look at the HHS team when you play them, the entire team all look like athletes, even the lineman. They have no belly's hanging out and bouncing everywhere. It is amazing for their sizes how strong they are and always quick as lightning.

#55 on D for HHS, as I did not care for him due to having diahrea of the mouth the entire night, is all over the field and a good LB.

Both teams will be in the hunt come play-off time.

Is #55 Fitzgerald? If it is, I can see him getting a little :fire: up.

greyche11,

55 is Stein...If I were a fan of the other team I wouldn't like Stein either but, I'll take his type of play and leadership for our team anytime!!!

I heard Dale got a little fired up early when Guidugli took a shot out of bounds. Beechwood is fortunate some of the Birds linebackers did not retaliate and go live on their QB.

Highlands looked realy good like usual and Josh Conner was impressive. Tommy Bankemper looked like he has gained about 20 pounds since last year and hasn't lost a step.

Dale has to be happy with the qb situation. The starting qb (Clay Cecil) is a little bang up and Tony comes in and does a fine job running the offense. Will Bardo run's the second offense and doesn't miss a beat. Both of these qb's could probably start just about anywhere else.

On Defense, I was very impressed with the way the def. line kept the Tiger's line off of the lb'ers. I thought that Mike Labor did a great job considering he just started playing d-line.

I couldnt attend but while sitting in the parking lot at Walgreens waiting for my wife to come out I called a buddy who was in the stands. Here was his take.

Highlands 1st teamers pretty much handled the Beechies but Bankemper did look good and they are huge.

No doubt your buddy is a Highlands fan. The Highlands 1st teamers did not "pretty much handle" the Beechies. It was nearly even early with a slight edge to Highlands but as the scrimmage wore on Highlands was in better shape and had more bodies but by no means did they pretty much handle them.

...I guess I'm never going to be asked into the FT. T Optimist Club. I think it's fortunate that HHS has a couple more weeks before it counts. Beechwood 1's looked good early...then faded (heat, conditioning, Birds' D settling in...whatever) as was stated. BW QB was good, nice runner. Exposed some D flaws that HHS will correct. HHS DB's were vastly improved. Collinsworth is a solid corner as a soph who has great technique/instincts...he'll only get better. Simons is fabulous as a DB...jumping routes and hitting like a LB. Speaking of hits, watch out for the multi-tasking Bathiany...K-WR-DB...hitting like a ton of bricks. Lots of rotation on the D-line/LB's...sometimes caught HHS in a "bad look" but it's a scrimmage and the coaches have to get a look at the boys (and on film!). Kody Rosenhagen and Blake Newman, both JR's, were missed on D last night...but that gave others opportunity. And young Roller is following right in the footsteps of his father and uncle...both HHS icons on D. Offense needs a lot of....gel-ing? The beef of BW was troublesome at the start for the O-line. Miscues: snap counts, missed assignments, not staying with blocks, rolling snaps...need to be corrected for the reg. season...they're drive killers!. QB needs to settle down, not rush passes/decisions...this will come with time and he got a bunch last night. Sparky Draper looked much improved and much larger than last year...I look for him to have a BIG year. The offense will take bit longer than the D to get to championship level...but they WILL get there. The JV Birds impressed me. A young but LARGE offensive line did a nice job protecting an impressive QB and a couple of hard running backs. (Alford / Fennell) Need to work on hanging onto the FB !! Little things: I believe there is no better long snapper in the state than Trey Jurgens. Punt block pressure was excellent...they seem to have the tools (attitude/speed/technique) to really make a difference this year. All in all, a good scrimmage for both squads...you don't get better playing patsies!!

Is the Male scrimage Fri. or Sat.?????? What time if anyone knows??

Get it right, Guidugli did not get hit of bounds, Bankemper just lite him up. First of all, he shouldn't have taken off running and should have been whistled dead in the backfield. The "QB's were off limits" until game situation unless they were actually running the ball but if scrambling and in the grasp, play over/dead. That is why the BHS QB was in an orange jersey but changed when the scrimmage went game situation. The ref should have blown the play dead and Guidugli should have stopped on this particular play.

BHS's QB would handle any type of so called retaliation by the Birds linebackers.

Easy, Easy, he was very forthright in saying that it was pretty even except for the fact that HHS broke off some nice runs. Trust me , the guy giving me a report is only a recent Bird fan and he is typically pretty objective. I didnt have time to get the negatives and I probably dont want to post it anyway unless I am there and I see it.

Beechwood from what I am hearing should roll in Class A. But are they really as good as the 1984 state championship team????

Since you brought it up, the 2007 Tigers are better than the 84 champs.

No they aren't. Not yet anyways.

This is for a different thread but it is not even close. The size difference alone would wipe out the 84 team.
