Free or nearly free restaurant meals

Featured Replies

I don't like to complain... if they bring me the wrong thing I usually eat it anyway. I recently ordered something that came out burnt and I just asked them to bring me something else instead. She had no problem getting the new order in and then talking to me about the possible reasons why the first dish had burnt. I didn't yell or make a scene because I know it's not her fault. It was a grilled dish I had eaten previously at this particular restaurant and had no problems before. The waitress stated that they started using parchment paper inside the foil wrap. I told her that is what was burnt, leaving the fish wrapped inside to have a burnt taste. I then ordered something that did not need to be cooked and it was brought out quickly. I know I will return to the restaurant in the future and hopefully they will have fixed what was causing the problem that time. I really like that dish so I hope my saying something will help so I can order it again with no worries.

I'm usually not a complainer, but HHSMom has a different view. She abhors poor customer service and lets it be known. Keep in mind that she always gives excellent customer service in her job.

If I do complain, I seldom send my food back. I don't want any "additives" in my food.

Yikes!:scared:

My father does all the time. They are still scared of him at Tumbleweeds.

Compulsive Complainers should open up their own Restaurant and Put the other resturant's out of Business. It couldn't be to hard...It's only the Resturant Business...

Anytime I've gotten a discounted meal but really good service, I've always contributed some if not all of my savings to the server's tip.

I'm a ridiculously large tipper, in general. But if I receive bad service or food I will lower the tip, never below the 15-20 standard.

I would never complain/make scene enough to almost request free food in return.

Sunday, Fox Run. 7:10AM.

See you there. :p:D

I'll never complain or make a scene at the restaurant, although I will leave a small tip if the service was truly terrible.

I've seriously had a waiter who asked if we wanted our checks, we said yes, and sat there another 45 minutes before he brought it to us....For a good 15-20 minutes of that time, he was standing at the bar talking to the bartender.

As a former bartender, waiter and kitchen guy, I'm right there with you. Having been on that side of the business gives you a better appreciation of the stuff restaurant people have to deal with. It's rare that I tip less than 20 percent; the service has to be pretty atrocious.

I have never complained even if I don't like it. I just never go back and tell my friends it wasn't good.

That has always been my approach. If it wasn't good, why would I go back for a free meal of bad food or service.

I can tell a well managed restaurant within the first 5 minutes. If is not well managed, then I don't want to eat there and I won't go back. If they don't pay attention to the customer, do you think they pay much more attention to the customer's order or how they handle the food?

I went to Hooters one time and the waitress spilled our drinks, then forgot to take our order. After about 45 minutes of waiting we were about to leave when the manager told us that they just realized what had happened and that we would be eating for free. I ordered a lot of food...

And of course, you go to Hooters for the quality hot wings they have.:D

How many of you have a spouse (Husband or Wife ) or even yourself that that when service is bad at a restaurant, complain to the manager or even send letters to the corperate offices . My wife (God Bless Her ) does this regularly and because of this coupons for free meals magically appear in our mailbox .:D

In the best terms I can muster this sounds like an abuse on the part of your wife to weasel free meals out of the restaurants.

If your wife feels the compulsion to complain she should do so but refuse any free coupons.

I pretty much agree with everyone else, if I have a problem with a restaurant I quit going and tell my friends about it.
