leatherneck
Saw an article in today's Post covering a 12 yr. old that critically hurt himself while riding an ATV that could do 60 mph. He wasn't wearing a helmet. The good news is that after getting close to death, looks like the kid will make a full recovery. Regardless of the helmet issue, I'd never let a 12 yr old kid ride something that fast and powerful. You?

Mr.Network
I wouldn't let my kids ride a quad at any speed. Those things are paralyzers.
TheDeuce
I'd make sure he was able to handle it before he opened it up. If I thought he could, I MIGHT let him.

My kids have ridden/driven dangerous, high-speed vehicles but never quads. They have been trained and properly equipped with helmets, fire suits, etc. My kids do not use those vehicles without proper supervision and on a closed course. We had a local 14 year old kid riding a quad on the street to go to a graduation party. He was wearing a helmet but he was going too fast, veered off the road and hit a utitlity pole and died. What a waste.
rockmom
No. I panic when I'm in the car with my kids and they're driving over 35!

Qryche11
NO WAY they are definitely dangerous and should be driven by adults only.
lcdawg4life
Us mountain folk call them " four-wheelers " and I wasnt allowed to ride one until I was 14. I have been riding ever since and I am 23 now. After almost 10 years of riding I still get in spots where it seems a little hairy to take one.
