Scott County getting transfer point guard

Featured Replies

The article said his family moved to Georgetown and if this is accurate, then he will be eligible no matter if he played varsity or not.
He will only be eligible at the KHSAA Commissioner's discretion. The move is arguement for transfer eligibilty as an exception.

Also he is leaving a good program in Henry Clay as they will have a very good team next year.

Your right Fan, if the KHSAA feels as if he is tranfering for athletic reasons only then he will be ruled ineligible. Im not saying thats what the kid is doing or what the KHSAA is going to rule, just saying that they make the call and I know I have seen people in this type of situation be suprised by the ruling of the Athletic Association.

If i am not mistaken wasn't Ethan King from Bracken County?

Scott County doesn't have to recruit. It is kind of like Mason, Ballard and Warren Central in Basketball and in Football like HIghlands, Cov Cath, and Boyle County kids just want to play for these successful programs.

Ethan King moved from Bracken in 6th grade! He has played AAU with Mason Co since 4th, the same with Trevor Setty.. They came to Mason one after the other..

This is nothing against SC...I mean what are they going to do, say don't come here!?! Everyone wants to play for a successful program and everyone knows that Scott County is Basketball. Smart move by this kid, obviously his best chance to get a ring!

To me, it seems like another case of transferring for athletic advantage. He obviously is saying the right things about wanting to keep a 3.0. Why couldn't he do that at Henry Clay? Isn't Georgetown only 15 minutes from Lexington? This would be a relatively easy move for a family and still be able to keep the same jobs. This would make Scott County's 2010 class much stronger than they otherwise would have been, so I'm sure they would welcome the transfer, whether or not it was solicited.

Please be aware of this rule while discussing this thread:

4. No school-specific (or general) recruiting comments or allegations of KHSAA rules violations by any school, coach, player or booster are allowed. No talking about where any player lives, has lived, or where they are from in a recruiting context. This is not the place to report KHSAA violations. Feel free to contact http://www.khsaa.org to report such violations, but do not discuss violations here.

You make an excellent point Hoopdr, families want the best for their kids both academically and athletically especially when they excel in both. AS long as it is done legitimately I am all for it. I just dont see anyone touching Scott Co for the next couple years with what they return.

I doubt Toyota had anything to do with it. The kid is from Lexington, and to be honest he probably really wants to play for a good ball team that will compete at a high level and get exposure to get himself to the next level. I do not think that Scott Co. recruited this kid at all. There is really no reason to with what they have coming back. You can say what you want, keep your thoughts to yourself or whatever, but the program attracted this kid. The coaching staff most definitely didnt go out and get this kid.

It's not SCHS' fault they have the most desirable employer in the state, and one of the most desirable employers in the world, in their backyard. This is a fact that many people conveniently overlook.

I agree that next year they are going to be awesome.

The following year they will be good, but I am not aware of anyone in their program in the 2009 class and below as good as Bud Mackey or Matt Walls. The new kid moving in is not in their catagory.

Yes they will be good two years from now, but not untouchable.

Dead on accurate!

All the talk of Scott County recruiting is bunk. Billy Hick's basketball program and the Georgetown community sells itself.

Who wouldn't want to play for Scott County?

Billy Hicks is going to need to perform some magic if this kid is going to be a point guard. He has never seen a shot he didn't like, and that was as a freshman.

From a basketball future standpoint, he has made to right move by going to Scott County. Also, he is correctly being told that his future at the next level would be at the point, but I do not think he will ever develop a point guard mentality. He has a scorers mentality and that will not bode well for a point guard on a team with as many good players as Scott County.

If I am not mistaken from years past the offense at Scott Co primarily goes thru the point guard. Only time will tell

If it is for higher academic reasons Why not another school in Fayette co.?

Why not Scott Co they go to some of the top notch tournaments in the country every year. Henry Clay has been to Bereas tournament the last two years. Showcase your talent. Alot of Scott Co. players got on the radar when coaches came to see Walls and Mackey.
