Thanks

What about Ge-lawn Guyn, has he enrolled at SCHS?

I really like Adams' game. He would have been a very solid player for Scott Co this season. But it won't be a bad loss because Scott Co has plenty other good players.

As for Guyn, starting as a freshman at Henry Clay is impressive. He should really develop at Scott Co.

So do we know if this kid (Guyn) is at Scott County or at J-town???

Adams left Scott County for Jeffersontown. Guyn left Henry Clay for Scott County.

Was Guyn starting at Henry Clay late in the year? When I saw him at Christmas, he was coming off the bench.

I believe he started the last half of the year after another player on the team got hurt. He's a very athletic player.

I seen Henry Clay play a few times later in the year and he started every game I seen. Id say he stepped in when Minnifield went down with an injury.

The main reason Ge-Lawn transferred is his father, period. his father felt like his son should have been the focal point of Henry Clays basketball team. He felt like his son was not geeting enough shots which was a stupid comment. The kid avg. more shots in the last 10 games than Vic Moses. He was third on the team in shots taken behind Moses and Boyd. Don't get me wrong Ge-lawn is a great kid but his dad is going to be his down fall. His dad was shooping the young man around, he had taken the kid down to Oak Hill for a tryout and was rejected. He couldn't take him to another city school because everyone knows how his dad is. Ge-lawn was the only freshman in Lexington to be a starter and then you complain about your son not getting enough shots something is wrong.

For the academic part of it Henry Clay was ranked in the top 10 in the state in academics and in the top 200 in the country, so the reason he is transferring because of academics is bull.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. It was my understanding that he actually had the opportunity to play for Oak Hill, but he was told that he would not get to play much for a year or 2 and he would be better off to go somewhere he could play. As for a father wanting to move to another county and put his son in a situation that he feels is better for him, who can really blame him.

Sounds like bias to me...

I don't know the dad, but if he wasn't getting enough shots at HC - he might have come to the wrong place... and might is a very kind word.

Mackey, Portwood, Hundley, Phares, and Lee could easily be the starting 5 on this team. Jordan Adams would have been ahead of Gelawn too. Marcus Birchfield also gave the Cards some quality minutes in the state tournament last year. I haven't even mentioned Adrian Givens (Goose Givens' nephew.) There is a lot of talent in G-town this year.

If the kid (and dad) want to be a part of winning a State Championship he may have come to the right spot - if he wants to be selfish and worry about shot attempts and points per game he should have gone elsewhere. Coach Hicks has a talent for getting kids to buy into the system (ie - Hundley, Jones, Alsop and Walls, Mackey) I'd bet that G-lawn figures it out. If you've got to have a problem - too many good players is a good one to have.

BTW - he did have a quote in the G-town paper about wanting to average at least 16 points per game. I don't always trust the quotes in there, but it's in line with what Gumbo is saying.

I'm sure the kid has personal goals, but I think even if he has those and is looking out for number 1 right now, Coach Hicks can make the kid believe in more of a team concept. If there is a coach that can do it, its probably him.

Gumbo Daddy's assessment of the situation is right in line with much that I have heard on it.
