UK/UL - Live on ESPN Classic and Local Networks

Featured Replies

I don't think so. Most rational UK fans were fine with the move because they know it isn't going to have much affect at all on the outcome and if the UK Powers want to move it, so be it.

Being on TV was not nearly as big concern as it has been spun. Most non ticket holders held a high hope that it would be picked up, and in the end, it was.

Being the only game in the time slot (and thus a bigger audience) was the only real concern, but that was not nearly as big a deal as some have tried to imply.

And the small negative of that, to be honest, was outweighed in the minds of many UK fans by the bonus of it being such a thorn in the side for so many whining UL fans. I know for a fact that it has been a source of laughter for a LOT of UK fans that UL fans have been so torn up over such a non issue.

I don't like to take sides in these UK/UL issues for the most part because even though I am deeply Blue, I hold no disdain for the Cards and other than one game a year, like to see them win. But I gotta say that for a program who has been far superior in every sense of the word, the team with the mostest in this series, the UL fans letting something as trivial as two weeks and a time slot work you guys into such a tizzie is not very becomming from the outside looking in.

If the Cards fans are as comfortably seated in the catbird seat as they claim to be, it would seem they would just make like a duck over this issue and go out and TCB. Instead we keep hearing that same old noise from out of the west. And from here, it is comical.

I love it:D

Sorry been busy.

Your our rival, and yes we get a kick out of tormenting you guys.

I'd be more than happy then to discuss the game rather than then issues surrounding it however, you haven't given us much to talk about the last few years and we have to grab at whatever comes our way. Be it UK changing the schedule, or the AD's second cousin bad mouthed our team we need, something to get us up or this game. We're going to take what you give us.

Maybe you could join a real conference so you'd have something meaningful to talk about. :sssh:

Of course, you all seem to be perfectly content getting your panties all in a wad when a middle of the pack team from another conference wants to move your game by 2 weeks.

Fair enough, as long as we understand each other. :bunny:

I think many UK fans were upset about the move. They won't call thier own program chicken like thier rival will, but they aren't happy with it either.

As a die-hard UK fan, I would prefer the game be the opener. I'm not mad or terribly upset, but I would much rather it be the opener. Just seems like a good, developing tradition was cast aside.

Many said the game would only be on tape delay... the freaking out can be taken down a notch now.

Since when has Kentucky been a middle of the pack SEC team?

It just goes to prove that the adage of "different strokes for different folks" is a true one, but I likewise am a die-hard UK fan, but I couldn't care less when we play UL or for that matter if we even play UL.

It"s great for state pride and in state recruiting if we play them and win, but I hold no grudge against UL. I think it would be great for the game of football in Ky if both schools could both be very successful. So I'm not one of those fans that wants to see the other program struggle just to rub the other program's fans in it. When we play them I want to win, but I certainly place no greater emphasis on that game than I do on the UT, UF, Ga or almost any other SEC game; probably less. My "goal" for UK is to win the SEC, not beat UL. Now if we can beat UL, that says a lot for our chances of challenging for the SEC, because these days UL is a very good football team.

And I don't think the "developing tradition" that you refer to will in any even the remotest way be affected by when we play them. As a Highlands fan, our tradition of playing CovCath each year has remained fiercely strong when we played them towards the beginning of the year, at the end of the year (as it has been in the recent past) or when we play them in the middle of the year (as it is currently). If its going to be a rivalry worth worrying about, when they play won't really matter in my opinion.

Furthermore, while I'm glad its on tv, if I was the AD, the possibility of being on tv wouldn't be a factor as to when the game is scheduled. Hopefully he and the coach are more worried about getting the team ready for SEC play then anything, and I mean anything, else. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Last year. :D

Realistically, I put them above Ole Miss and MSU. Tied with Vandy.

That would put us in a tie for 9th. Thats in the middle 50%.

I like to refer to this as optimistic arithmetic. :p:D I put them in with these 4, making them part of the lower third.

I agree, but after last season, I'm certainly optimistic that we might be leaving the basement. :D

Anyway, that really makes my original statement even better. UofL fans are getting their underwear twisted because a cellar dweller from another conference wanted to move thier game by 14 days.

Bravo, bravo!
