Any word on Homer or Josh?

 

Hamilton has been sent to Louisville for a Rehab assingment. I believe his first game with the Bats will be Tuesday.

Today the Reds optioned to Louisville LHP Jon Coutlangus; placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Friday, IF/OF Ryan Freel (torn cartilage, right knee); recalled from Louisville RHP Gary Majewski; returned from a rehabilitation assignment and reinstated from the 60-day disabled list LHP Eddie Guardado (left elbow surgery, lower back); sent to Louisville on a rehabilitation assignment OF Josh Hamilton (sprained right wrist).

***Coffey is still on the major league roster, just no excuse for that at all. If by some chance he is out of options then you let him collect dust in the bullpen or let him clean up the dugout after the game.

I can't believe they sent Cooter to Louisville, and kept Coffey on the roster. I simply cannot justify this move in my head at all. Can someone please make sense of this for me.

I'm sorry, but I'm in total shock. Coutlangus has been one of the best options out of the bullpen all year long. Besides Weathers he has been the most consistent, yet he gets the ticket to Louisville while Coffey, Stanton and Gosling remain on the roster. :confused: :confused: Someone please, please explain this to me. :confused:

Good question. Coutlangus has struggled with inherited runners more than Gosling and he's walked a lot of batters but Gosling has a higher WHIP than he does so I'm not sure what the reasoning is.

The fact that Coffey is still on the roster, that Bray is in the minors still, and that they only have 3 OFs is just crazy. This team has no clue.

Makes one wonder, as this is an accurate measurement, of a relief pitchers effectiveness, in my book.

You knew Cooter was running outof chances by continuing to come in for a lefty and walking him. It happened again in Pittsburgh and you just tell that Petey Mack was furious. Not for nothing, rumor is he was the one that Dunn performed the attitude adjustment on.

 

Gosling is a long man, and I'm sure they don't want Stanton or Bray taking that role.

 

I don't get sending out Freel and bringing up another hurler. I realize Bellhorn and Keppy could play LF if need be, but that would raise the chance that Griffey would move to center (if Hopper would come out) and Dunn to RF. Wow -- balls they'd be a-dropping.

 

I don't get the fascination with rushing Eddie back.

Well, my opinion is it's stupid. And here's why. Here's Wayne on why they have 13 pitchers (which I actually understand, it's just that those pitchers are who they are is what I disagree with)

So, basically, with Harang and his back, Dumatrait and Belisle, as well as Livingston, Wayne's basically saying he's expecting to lose some games. So, you know, at least he has some pitchers that will help him lose games if they're ready to pack in a game. But hey, $1 hot dogs!

 

It's a bad, bad statement to throw out there. I didn't think too much of the fire Krivsky sentiment until now, this is the final straw. It's the dumbest thing I've seen since Juan Castro batting for Josh Hamilton. There's no reason asking Wayne about Dunn's option, because it's not going to be his decision to make.

No, I mean I've been told directly my a person within the ownership group that he won't be retained...the same person that told me last July (I think) that Steve Stewart wouldn't be back. Could they change their minds between now and then, yeah, I guess, but I think it is safe to say that it looks like that won't be the case.

 

Having a team with (essentially) a lame duck GM and (essentially) a lame duck Manager is great. That is really when the magic happens, wouldn't you agree?
