Track the Reds: 2nd Half

Featured Replies

Do they just like working together or what?

He started off catching him when we first got Bronson and it stuck.

I would think so, but with Votto and Cantu their pretty loaded over there. I think that Keppy and E-5 should hold down 3rd.

I'd hardly use the term "loaded" with two guys currently in the minors.

Will we see Jay Bruce in the Bigs this year?

Rain delay did help one thing -- just talked to Georgia baseball coach David Perno for my off-day story on Tuesday. It was awesome. He gave me some great stuff. This story may or may not make it into the story, but thought it was interesting. Perno signed a hot-shot shortstop from Stone Mountain, Ga., and the kid thought he'd come right in and take over at short. Perno, even though he hadn't signed him yet, told him he'd be at second until his current shortstop left. 'You're not beating out Keppinger,' Perno said, knowing exactly what kind of competitor he had in Keppinger. That hot-shot? Brandon Phillips.

Game pushed back to the 28th as a Doubleheader.

The Reds are 3-7 in the last 10 games Ross has started. They are 7-3 in the last 10 games Valentin has started.

I saw yesterday in a program while watchign the Cubs game that Ross makes $1.6million. For hitting a Buck 40......jeeeeeez

He is up above .200 now, on fire.

I can only imagine how demanding being a catcher is and all the abuse you go through playing the position, BUT when was the last time the Reds had a catcher that hit over 270 on a consistent year to year basis. Or even a catcher that could hit consistently period.

Since there wasn't a game today, check this out.

No game today as well but he might see some action. Bray, Majeswki, and Guddardo are all ready and Coffey and Gosling are likely canadiates to be switched with them. I think Bray and Everyday Eddie will be called up for those 2.

Is Eddie ready? I saw on Foxsports that his fastball only topped out at 86 in his last start.

I don't think he threw much harder than 90 and I don't think he ever will again.

^ Maddux made a career out of not throwing over 90mph.. But don't worry, I'm not trying to compare Eddie to Maddux.

It sounds as if a fairly large roster shuffle could happen before Tuesday, when the Reds open a three-game series at Great American Ball Park against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The bullpen likely will be addressed for the 99th or so time this season.

If the Reds bring up an outfielder to replace Freel, the hottest hitter at Triple-A is Jay Bruce, the 20-year-old top pick from 2005.

He is hitting 312 with seven home runs and 16 RBI in 26 games with Louisville.

"From what I heard, he's a pretty good-looking player," Mackanin said.

Any word on Homer or Josh?
