Anybody know how many pitches Nutini threw in his 6 innings. Maybe this was possibly the reason??

88 pitches.

I heard CC hit a "Dinger" that was very close on being fair/foul? Did anyone have a good line of sight on it? Sounds like in the end it was not the deciding point in the game. Congrats to both teams!

It was foul when it left the park, no question a bad call. Umps did a great job overall but were questioned heavily on two plays during the game as Krumps and Roesel unloaded on them.

A great game for the 9th Region final. Hats off to both teams. Expected more from the umps in a game like this. HR looked fair to me and the missed interference call at 3rd turned out to be hugh. A special good-bye to the CCH seniors, who were great leaders on and off the field for the under classmen and provided for me 4 great years of enjoyment.

I had a pretty good angle and it was close, but the issue to me and apparently Roesel was there was no immediate definitive call on the play, that I saw anyways.

That was Skylar Stein #40. And your right he makes that catch 999 out of 1000 times. Great kid. He helped the Colonels win alot of games this years with his glove and his bat.

We are dealing with kids here, so lets look on the upside. Yeah, Skylar dropped a ball he should have caught, but he kept his head in the game and got the ball back in quickly and limited Ryle to just tying the game when, if he'd gone into a panic, the Raiders could have plated 2 runs and won right there. Stein kept his head in the game and left the Colonels with a shot.

But in the end, Ryle got the timely hits and pulled out the win. Great game and Great seson by both teams. Best of luck to the Raiders from here on out.

Yes, the home run was foul and yes there was inadvertant interference on the other play. The Ryle third baseman had fallen on the attempt to catch the ball, when he was getting to his feet (facing home plate) the second runner had to go around him and there was some contact. The defensive player has the right to get to his feet, that's why any contact was inadvertant. I guess in the end, it's all high school baseball. Just great kids on both sides of the field. They have represented their schools well. Their parents should be proud of them.

I don't think there were many opportunities for steals against him in the 3 games. Dustin only had a couple of small blips in the tourney and did a great job at the plate. I think he was the best choice for Ryle's MVP.

Congrats to a great kid on the award .Dustin is a class act who deserves some good .I do believe Beechwood had 1 stolen base in that game BUT KID GOT A GREAT JUMP.Dustin had at least 1 hit and an RBI vs BHS .

Congrats to Ryle. Bring a title home to the 9th.

Fun game. I'm sure the third base ump was glad for it to end after having both managers in his ear.

Ryle battled and battled in the 7th and kept putting the bat on the ball.

Tough situation for Isler. Has he even pitched 20 innings this season?

Ryle has the team to do well in the sectionals. Best wishes to them.

Skylar Stein is one of the best defensive outfielders I've seen in a while. He has made great plays all season and was key to the Colonels' success this season.

I did not see the play as I was watching the ball. However, if the play went as described, its obstruction and the runner could have been awarded home. Intent is irrelevant on this play.

I asked the question in the preview thread about Coach R pitching around Luke Maile and got the following response:

Mr. Maile, as good as he is for a soph, still has a little ways to go to get the respect Curley received as a senior. A great hitter, and awesome defensive catcher, but still needs to learn a little more patience at the plate. All in do time.

Fortunately, Coach R doesn't let foolish pride get in the way of strategy. Was Luke 1/1? I recall walks. Heck, once they walked him with a man already on first and 2nd base open.

Luke had best prepare for the IBB coming his way in the next 2 seasons.

I believe I said in that thread they would pitch to him with no one on, but walk him if CCH had baserunners. It was the right choice by Roesel.

Blue made the call immediately. I know because I lost the ball and immediately turned to see what he was going to call. He emphatically called it fair while running down the line.

Right call? No clue.
