WOW! Talk about a classic battle between #1 and #2. My heart goes out to CovCath. They outplayed us for 6 innings and then it fell apart. I want to commend the Ryle student section. They stood and cheered on their team in the 6th and 7th innings when it looked like all was lost. That to me is incredible to see students supporting each other. Neat stuff going on at Ryle. The ball team certainly did not have their best night but did not give up. The Raiders showed me a great spirit and will to win. Best wishes to all CovCath seniors. I can't imagine the pain you feel right now.

I believe they rotate the 9-12, on a yearly basis, to create Semi-State III. Travel will be considerable, depending upon whom advances, each year.

If I'm not mistaken, O'hara caught all three of Ryle's game and he might call most of the pitches. Maybe part of Ryle's success is having a catcher that the pitchers feel comfortable with in big games. Does anyone know if any team in the tourney tried to straight steal on him? If so, what was the success rate? Lots more to the game than hits.

I don't think there were many opportunities for steals against him in the 3 games. Dustin only had a couple of small blips in the tourney and did a great job at the plate. I think he was the best choice for Ryle's MVP.

My son played AABC ball with Justin a few years ago. Great kid and comes from a great family. Saw him play all three games in the region and he did a great job. I say the honor is well deserved.

Congrats to Coach Roesel and his team. They never gave up, dropped their head nor went thru the motions. This attitude comes from the top down. Their hard, dedicated work paid off tonight. They will represent our region well.

JMO, but if you leave Nutini in longer and then go strait to Niehaus CovCath wins this game. I'm not slighting Isler's ability he will be a great pitcher in the future, but coming off Tommy John's surgery he just didn't have enough innings thrown this year. The great thing for CovCath is they have all three of those guys back next year.

I heard CC hit a "Dinger" that was very close on being fair/foul? Did anyone have a good line of sight on it? Sounds like in the end it was not the deciding point in the game. Congrats to both teams!

Excellent game. Very exciting to watch. After the error on Vince that brought in a run a guy in front of me got up and left while saying "I've seen enough." Big mistake. I was on my feet the entire 7th inning.

 

Congratulations to Cov Cath on a great season, looks like they will have a stellar team coming back next year!
