Hey Hey there lil' mister - that's getting too close to my age for me to agree with your suggestion:lol: :lol: :lol: I was riding with my 19 year old nephew, in my car, and I have to tell you that I was scared to death. He was all over the road just becuase he was too busy trying to talk my head off and not paying attention to what he was doing. Then there is MrRk's mother who just turned 91 and she drove up until a year or so ago and she just watching her try to get out of the driveway (a straight one) was painful and I wouldn't have road up the driveway with her for all the tea in China. I really don't know what the right age would be to start making people re-test but I do think that 60 is a might young.

 

This might be a tad bit harsh and perhaps can't be done because of privacy and all that jazz but I think that if someone is in really bad health or can't pass an eye test easily, they should be reported and let them have to be re-tested and make it manatory. Boo - hizz - boo - too hard for the professional to keep up with....nah.....I could probably have about 10 of these same people ready to be reported to the courthouse today just from the ones who come into our place.

I agree my grandfather drove himself to the hospital at 84 and was still a good driver. He knew it was his time and died within three days.

I can deal with starting at 65, but once over 70, I would say test every two years. A lot can deteriorate in five years when you're up there in the 70's.

My dad said he had a horse and buggy when he was 18, he is now 72. And alot of time if I can I'll drive him to the store or wherever. Because he is blind in one eye and he at times starts to wonder about something else other than driving, sometimes he scares me I insist on let me drive when I can. I'm afraid it may come down to having his license took, Mom gave up drivin' long ago because as she puts it because of her nerves and she has knee problems.
