OK, fair enough. But, I'm here to tell you, Catholicism IS a Christian Religion. And, I agree longevity doesn't always mean accuity, but disagreeing with one denomination and starting another doesn't make one "more" right either. (IE Church of England, etc.)

Well, I'm here to rebut that some churches view the beliefs of the Catholic church as one of convenience. Confession, priests, how death and salvation is viewed, the Pope, and several other issues as contrary to what the bible teaches. So, if you're asking others to be open minded with regards to your denomination of "Christianity" then I would hope you would quid pro quo. And I'm not passing judgement on any one religion, the Word says that it is my responsibility to work out my own salvation. I just may find it along only one narrow path and believe that if folks take any other path that they are headed down the "broad path". I agree with KJ that there is only one way, and hope that all who call themselves "Christians" are on that way.

If you believe the Bible , then what u are saying is that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for no reason. If we can live a good life and "try" to be good, then the Bible is useless.

There 3 ways to get to Heaven according to the Bible

1) Die at an early age before accountabilty

2)Ask Jesus to be our Saviour

3)Live a perfect life without sin

As for me, I am past #1. There's no way I can do #3 as I am human. So, to me #2 is left. I don't know your position but I am thankful for Jesus dying on the Cross for my sins. It does not matter what we do here on earth, we must depend on Christ. His Grace and Mercy is my only hope.

Being open minded means that one puts an effort into learning about something one doesn't understand. I've not really experienced any true, unshakable closedmindedness here on BGP, but I have definitely experienced it.

 

I've never purported that my way was the only way. I'm defending my faith against erroneous information (ie that we're not Christian). I've not attacked or shut out anyone's explanations. But, I will defend any point that one wants to question with regard to the Catholic faith.

Not saying that at all. I believe that Jesus died so that I (as someone that does have love for Jesus Christ in my heart) may live. However, I wholeheartedly believe that how I think / act / and live matters greatly in my chances at eternal peace and happiness. Otherwise, if it "does not matter what we do here on earth...," there is no reason to work as hard as possible everyday to be the best possible person you can be. I think that matters. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm going to keep trying to be the best person I can, I'm going to keep being open-minded to other people's beliefs, and I hope that in the end I am judged fairly as someone who tried to live their life the right way (while obviously never being close to perfect).

The problem with being an interpretattionalist is that we as humans change but our God does not.

Yes it would, or it could be creating a church that would like to literally follow the bible and its rules more closely. I don't think that the split from the Catholic church was a decision based on its stringent rules.

Motive is a beautiful thing, and rests in the eye of the beholder.

To me it doesn't matter what one calls himself/herself. It is not about religion but about one's relationship with Jesus Christ.
