That was excellent, BF. Very well written, sure brought back memories for me.

Your memories (sadly) are much more tragic.

How long do you think it will be before anything is built on the site? Will it ever happen?

I heard some talk about a retirement home or something of that sort, but I don't know how accurate that is.

Yeah, really opened my eyes. To this day I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about it.

I heard that they just put the property up for sale -- after one of the news stations asked them if they realized that the property had doubled in value.

My father had two cousins that perished in that fire. I can remember it very vividly as being the only time that I have been to a double funeral.

I actually did my 25 page History Methodolodgy paper on this fire a few years go. I spent many a day in the archives in Frankfort pouring over the official reports in addition to reading some info provided me by my brother (who is a firefighter).

I also got to talk to Ron Elliot, the gentleman who wrote "Inside the Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire." He was a tremendous help in my research. Despite the tedious amount of work I had to do for it, I found it extremely interesting if not completely heartbreaking.

Pep, what is your opinion on the theory that the mob set this fire on purpose? I listened to a couple of people on the radio that were completely convinced that this was the case.

I also heard that in one of the books written about Newport mafia that there's supposed to be a weapons cache in the hill somewhere up there. Not sure how true that is...

Sad, sad event in an era that fascinates me...

What would have been the mob's motive behind this?

My parents were there that night. Forunately, my dad decided against the advice to go down the hall where they ended up finding the bodies due to the locked door.

Thank God for them, sounds like they had a guardian angel with them that night. :thumb:

Some people that I trust very much believe this wholeheartedly.
SOme people that I trust very much believe this wholeheartedly.
Seems kind of late for this area for it to be the mob.

Again I ask, what would have been the mob's motive?

From what I've read, they wanted to add gambling, or buy the club to add gambling, and when the owners refused, citing no need as profits were fine, the mob wanted to make sure they were profitable no longer.
