Sounds like the big CEO's that misrepresnt earnings by billions of dollars, then when the avg. worker looses all of thier retirement, the CEO takes a severance package of $3.2 million. June 18, 200719 yr I'm glad we're so technical in the terminology...but really, in the end, isn't it still the same? Our country is full of self-serving people, bent on "spinning" the "facts" to "create" a "truth". And they're lead by elected members who do the same, on a global scale. Sad, really. And scary.

I'm sure you and I could get together and a make a mile long list of things that could be improved upon in this country, but there is an awful lot of good also. We live in a country founded and dedicated to freedom and self rule which by it's very nature makes it possible to mislead it's citizens and abuse positions of trust. Yet, because we are guaranteed rights and freedoms, we can change that which we are unhappy about and we always have the prospect of an even brighter tomorrow. It is indeed the greatest country in the world and I prefer to see it from a "glass half full" angle.

That includes you, Michael Moore, and myself. I also have a right to choose not to propigate what I see as propoganda and lies by paying my money to listen to it or view it. I also have the option of turning the channel. Michael Moore has said that he wishes that Fox news, talk radio and others like them would go to Cuba . . . thus my reference to perhaps he is the one needing to leave. He obviously feels that conservatives do not have a right to an opinion.

Sex, Drugs, and Capitalism- The American Way. While I'm not denying that such behavior happens, I need to point out that such behavior happens very rarely. Most big CEO's are honest people that do the right thing. Do they negotiate big contracts and severance contracts? They sure do. And what's wrong with that? Not a dang thing. Furthermore, if you are keeping up with executive compensation pay trends, more and more of the compensation packages (including severance) are tied to the profitibility of the company. Lets not take rare instances and make them seem like they are the rule, not the exception. If we going to do as you seem to be doing, every school teacher is a sex offender; every coach hits and abuses his/her players; every parent gets in fights at their kids athletic events; every poster on here is rude and/or a close minded, bigot; so on and so on. Bottom line: improper behavior by CEOs is a very, very rare occurence in the U.S. And rather than focus on the few cases where workers have lost their savings due to CEO misbehavior, I think we should acknowledge the millions of people that have become very, very wealthy as a result of investing in their employers' stock which has done well as a result of their employers being managed extremely well by the respective CEOs.
