May 23, 200719 yr I stand corrected!:thumb:From the mouth of Mrs. S.... "How in the hell can you remember something like that, when we spent 30 minutes looking for your car keys this morning?" :jump:
May 24, 200719 yr UK has obviously given him the keys to the car. He won't want for nothing. Remember he is still undefeated at UK.
May 24, 200719 yr He may be undefeated at UK but seriously we all have inherited schedules our first year some place. Yes UK plays a tough schedule but.... the SEC is not as strong as 10 years ago Houston????? are you serious in listing them as a "tough game?" I guarantee UMASS isn't replaced by anybody in the top 75 RPI. My opinion is this is a classless move anytime it takes place particularly without a real good reason.....and wanting another home game for the new coach is not a good reason.
May 24, 200719 yr If it were an in-state or traditional rival that was dropped, I could understand it being an issue. This, however, is a non issue... I had lunch with Travis ford once. Cancelling on him would not make me lose any sleep...
May 24, 200719 yr Boy we sure are hurting for something to talk about? This is a non-issue. Who cares? If Ford wasn't the coach at UMass we wouldn't even be having this loooooooooooong debate.

This happens ALL THE TIME in all sports. Doesn't matter what the reason is, they don't really need one, just like the prez doesn't need a reason to fire US attorneys. Actually, this is very similar with some people asking for a reason when none is needed and then trying to make a stink about it. Marshall has had several games bought out over the years in football after signing home - home agreements. No explanation needed, the contract was followed, the short notice is unfortunate, but when the coach just came on board, that happems.
May 24, 200719 yr The fans are. There should be more outrage for your favorite school snubbing one of the key players involved in the program's resurgence. You (and others) are suggesting the university just wash its hands of a former player — that's what the use of the term "owed" sounds like — even though you and I both know that UK basketball players are on scholarship for life. Your and others' attitude on this definitely doesn't jive with what I've seen in the past with former players getting preferential treatment from the fans and university, Richie Farmer's political career being the most egregious recent example of this behavior. Then if Travis wants the same kind of treatment, he needs to come back to Kentucky and run for office or apply for a cushy bank job...
May 24, 200719 yr Yeah, still recall when UK dug up some wins against the Lexington YMCA and other area high schools when UNC passed them up briefly. Gotta keep that "winningest program" banner, by any means necessary. Gonna go out on a limb and guess that UNC has some of these same kinds of wins way back in their past...
May 24, 200719 yr Gonna go out on a limb and guess that UNC has some of these same kinds of wins way back in their past... Doesn't make it right just because someone else does it. I don't care for John Clay much, but I'm in complete agreement with him on this one: No excuse for UK's stiffing UMASS

May 30, 200719 yr Then if Travis wants the same kind of treatment, he needs to come back to Kentucky and run for office or apply for a cushy bank job... We should also be reminded that Travis "stiffed" EKU after they spent a lot of money building him an office and trying to get him to stay at EKU. EKU tried to hold him to the contract but was unable to. If loyalty is an issue he (Ford)hasn't shown much of it in the past.
May 30, 200719 yr Who cares. UMass will find a game that will make up any lost money. Sure they might not sell out but the 50,000 dollars plus what they will make off the other game will make any lost money.
