Questions for the NKY folks.

If you want to try the local delicacy, and be true to your KY roots, go for Dixie Chili -- It's a lot better, and is NKY's own! :thumb:

Go on over to the Hoffbrahaus and order up 2 BIG Premiums and tell us how it makes you feel. Thats all you have to say is "I'd like a Big Premium please". Take two and let us know in the morning.

I'm an outsider, but I was up there at our branch office last week and discovered that they opened a Dickey's Barbecue Pit (looked to be rahter recent) in West Chester. It's on Union Centre Blvd. near the Raffertys. It is a chain but IMO the food is pretty good.

I am familiar with them from time spent in Texas where it is pretty popular. It more of a Texas style barbecue so it is a little different than what we have down in Owensboro. No mutton, but plenty of brisket.

I would suggest that anyone who likes barbecue should give them a try. If it helps you decide, I'm a big fan of Famous Daves. I tried Montgomery Inn once, and while it was very good, I don't see what all the hype is about. I think I can get ribs just as good for less somewhere else.

Never had Dixie Chili, but I always try to make time for either Skyline or Goldstar when I get into town. Both are within about 1/2 block of our office. Personally I can't really tell much difference between the two, but my opportunities to eat it are few and far between.

but plenty of brisket.

My favorite. Yum...

Next time you have the opportunity, give Dixie a try. I guarantee you will like it better.

The main difference between Skyline and Goldstar is that Goldstar is a little spicier.

I'll keep an eye out for one. They must not be nearly as plentyful as Skyline and Goldstar. Our office is on Reed Hartman in Blue Ash up near 275. Any around there?

Newport, Erlanger and Covington are the only locations...

No, unlike the other two, Dixie only has three locations. They do, however (like the other two) sell their chili in cans at many regional supermarkets.

Dixie Chili Locations

733 Monmouth Street, Newport

2421 Madison Avenue, Covington

3716 Dixie Highway, Erlanger

You are correct about that one. Skyline is so much more convenient for us, I had almost forgotton Dixie. Definately the best, though I wouldnt turn any of them down!:thumb:

Do you know when you're coming up yet? I will be anxious to hear your report on our fine area.

Try to go to Devou Park in Covington if you want a spectacular view of downtown Cincy. Just a pretty place to sit and veg.....

Don't know yet, But I plan to do some damage to some menus at these places you guys are telling me about...

Ok Admiral! We gave you all these wonderful choices and no report back to us! Where did you go? What did you do? What did you like or dislike?

More importantly, did Admiral ever make it up here? ;)

The Admiral clan will be heading north soon to visit the inlaws. My boys and I are planning to have some fun before we get there, and start are being bored contest. My inlaws live about 2 minutes from the bridge when you cross over into Cincinnati. How far is the zoo from the bridge? Last time up I also got to go to Traders world flea market. (I think I remember the way to it from Cincinnati). I also remember the White Castle in Covington by the bridge. Also who has the best BBQ up that way, is it the Montgomery Inn? BTW when you see a vehicle heading south pulling a cannon, a Horse, and a Tiger It's me.

So you did the flea market and White Castles? I think that pretty much covers it. How can life get any better?
