Donovan Interviews with the Grizzlies *link provided*

Featured Replies

The Memphis Grizzlies' courtship of Billy Donovan intrigued the two-time national championship-winning coach enough to interview with Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley recently, but Donovan has decided to stay at the University of Florida, multiple sources said.

For the conversations to continue, one source said, Donovan asked for complete control of the Grizzlies' basketball operation. With the retirement of general manager Jerry West, Heisley has been searching for a top executive and coach.

I guess money does talk. Wonder if he informed his recruits of this during their meeting.

If what I read is true, he's VERY interested in the league which is what a lot of people have said. I guess if someone is willing to turn over complete control then I guess he'd take a chance at it. I wonder how this news will effect Patterson and Lucas in their school decision?

I think the Rockets could also become a player since JVG announced he was leaving the team.

'Robin' still looking to leave the Batcave?

Patterson said in an interview that Donovan told him personally that he had met with them but that he was staying at UF.

Yeah, he is staying at UF because Memphis wasnt willing to give him full control of the team. That doesnt mean that another team in the very near future wouldnt be willing to give him what he wanted. Donovan will end up in the league, I dont know if it will be this year or in the next couple years but I feel like thats where he's headed.

I think Donovan will be at NBA before its over and still be in Florida, I think hes waiting for the Miami job, but then again I think so its probably far off haha.

This is the only reason he turned down the UK job. because in the near future he wants to be on NBA status.

 I think he will jump to the NBA in the next couple of years and when he is tossed aside, then UK will have their best chance of getting him. At this time the Billy G bashers will be in full force...

:thumb: My thought exactly he didnt turn down UK for UF he turned down UK for the league.

My feelings on that were that he never intended to take the U.K. job at all. He used Barnhart to up his price at U.F.. I for one am glad that Lil' Ricky wanna be Donovan is NOT at U.K.. ;)

:thumb:  It doesn't matter with the bashers, 18% or whatever you call them. Only the name changes on their "target", the bashing will go on forever! That is a "Mark it Down" if there ever was one. ;)

the only thing you're right about in this statement is the NBA thing.
