May 4, 200719 yr Yeah, I've never been to Keeneland either, but I think I would probably enjoy watching the horses. I'm not a gambler, but I could get into that for an afternoon for the entertainment of it, I'm sure. I may have to find somebody who knows their way around to take me to Keeneland sometime and give it a shot. Do they let you pet the horses and feed them sugar cubes and apples and stuff? Maybe the cheap claiming horses. Stakes- and allowance-caliber horses tend to be on pretty rigid diets.

Not so much feeding them, but I'd love to pet them and talk to them. Horses are really beautiful and amazing animals. If I lived close to the track, I'd like to have a part time job grooming them.

May 4, 200719 yr I will be at River Downs on the east side of the track hanging near the rail.Tail gate party starts at noon.Racing form in hand so I look like I know what I'm doing. If I can get H to give up his picks I will secretly slip them onto my racing form and come out looking like a genius.:ylsuper: Party.
May 4, 200719 yr Usually get together with friends to watch the Derby. I love it--the horses are beautiful & I enjoy watching them run. I guess my love for those 4 legged beasts started long ago. The first word I ever spoke was horsey.
May 4, 200719 yr Supposed to be at a track meet all the way down in Williamsburg, but Mason County sports are cancelled for a couple of days. Instead, will go to John's RunWalk Shop in Lexington to get my daughter a new pair of spikes; then try to catch the race on TV if in Lex, or at home if we make it back in time. The only real family tradition surrounding the Derby is to watch my wife get all misty-eyed during the playing of My Old Kentucky Home.

May 4, 200719 yr Keeneland is very much a place to "people watch". To me it was basically a fashion show or a GQ photoshoot. I think there was some kind of side event besides the fashion show, it looked to be something dealing with men riding what seemed to be large dogs in a circle. I was too blinded by pink button ups and light blue suits to tell. I understand some people love to dress up for events like this. Not me. I don't wear khakis and a tucked in button up unless someone is getting married or someone died. It's summer, it's too hot to be in that kind of junk.
May 4, 200719 yr Starting at about 8 or 9 I will be in PJCS parking lot...then I will drag myself into Churchill around race 6.
