I will be in front of my TV watching, then selecting the horse I want to win by its name, and the proceding to make a few phone calls after my horse has been chosen.

Can you lay down a trifecta for me? :D

I don't know about laying down but I can bet one for you.:ylsuper:

I've watched a couple of Derbys on TV in my time, but none in the last 10 years. I'll be playing baseball with my kids or fishing or something else that day and I'll catch the highlights on the evening news.

For such a big event for our state, I've just never been attracted to it. Even if I liked horse racing, I think I would prefer something with a little less glamor and pretense. I know I'd love being around the horses, but I also know I would hate being around the crowds and the pomp and circumstance that comes with the Derby.

I know it is great for Kentucky, so I really hope it is successful, but it just isn't for me.

I'm like 2C, not something that appeals to me.

The beauty of the Derby, and horse racing in general, is that it brings together both the hoity-toity types and the common folks.

I'll be at the Warsaw Derby party for the annual high-dollar horse auction.

What if we don't want to be brought together?

Seriously, I love horses. If I could get a pass and spend the day in the stables, I'd probably have a blast. I couldn't care less who wins the race, though.

You would probably be better off going to Churchill or Keeneland on just an average weekend day. Not so many people as the Derby, but still high-quality talent on the racing strip. I'm a big racing fan, but I wouldn't be caught dead in the mess of people that is the Derby.

Yeah, I've never been to Keeneland either, but I think I would probably enjoy watching the horses. I'm not a gambler, but I could get into that for an afternoon for the entertainment of it, I'm sure.

I may have to find somebody who knows their way around to take me to Keeneland sometime and give it a shot.

Do they let you pet the horses and feed them sugar cubes and apples and stuff?

You kill me toots.

I'll get to River Downs about 4:30 to place mine and MANY other bets I'm sure. It's become a ritual over the last few years. I used to go to Turfway on Derby Day but I really like RD a lot better for some reason on that day.
