I just got back from watching it. It was entertaining and well worth going to see. I'd rank it as the 2nd best in the series with Spiderman 2 being the best.

 

Why in the world does Spiderman 1 get such a bad rap? I've still got it above Spiderman 2.

Certainly worth the price of admission. Pretty good stroytelling and action, but

it is a little rich in terms of new characters. However, I must say that they

(the graphics and sound departments especially) nailed Venom. I think that

character may be worth seeing the movie on his own.

Oh I really liked all of them. I just felt that they had to spend so much time making Peter Parker into Spiderman and fleshing out the characters that it was a little slower than the other two. I'm no knocking it at all--it was still a really good movie.

IMO, easily the worst of the three. The part in the middle when Peter had that Venom attitude and thought he was so cool was so painfully cheesy that I could barely stand to watch. I also thought the movie was lacking in action for a majority of the movie. The only positive to this movie would be the special effects which were great as expected.

I have to agree with you on this one. I think the other 2 were better, and there were a lot of cheesey parts in this one. But the special effects and the fightings were great.

Terrible. Just terrible. Barely worthy of being attached to the other two movies. It's like they took elements of my least favorite movies and put them together. One thing I despised from the Schumacher Batman movies (Forever, Batman & Robin) was the villain teamup. Always forced and unrealistic to me. So when Venom and Sandman run into each other in an alley and it takes all of ONE MINUTE for them to team up, I just about screamed.

 

EVERYTHING involving Peter/Black Spidey following his getting Brock fired until he got rid of it at the bell was putrid. I don't know how they could have thought that that part was any good.

 

I agree with ram2003 about the butler. Way to sit on your hands as Harry destroyed his life piece by piece (got rid of all his friends, nearly destroyed New York by giving Doc Ock the tritium to get to Spidey, got half his face messed up) and THEN tell him that he's dead wrong. Good call on that one. And that's just an example of the lazy writing that you could see in this one. Like the "I forgive you for killing Uncle Ben and now I'll just let you leave" crap with Sandman. I'm not saying he can't forgive him, but to just let him go? COME ON! I just couldn't suspend my belief in this one to get past a lot of that stuff.

 

I will say that most of the stuff involving Brock/Venom was pretty good. Possibly the best part of the movie. I just thought there was so much potential that was wasted.

Well, I just got back from seeing it and while I won't give any spoilers, I will say don't get your hopes up.

 

I can't recall in recent memory the last time I was this disappointed with a movie with such high expectations.

 

I have seen the words "tired" and "last legs" used in several reviews to describe this entry and that's actually being kind. I won't go so far to call this film goodness awful, I only use that when describing any movie starring Freddie Prinze Jr. Everything about this movie feels tired, even the actors feel like they are going through the motions. I love Tobey and Kirstin, but they seem completely bored by the proceedings.

 

Yes, the action scenes are great and the filmmakers did exactly what worked so well in the 1st two, but for some reason it doesn't seem to gel here. The theatre needs to give each person some pancakes with your ticket, cause you get PLENTY of syrup moments in this movie. My goodness, I understand each character has an arc and you want to draw out emotion, but it is WELL OVERDONE.

 

It probably is a good thing that all involved might move on. I really don't know where Sony can go with part 4, even with new actors and a new director, you need a completely new take on these characters.

 

Thankfully, I FINALLY saw Grindhouse after sitting through that crap and got a chance to watch TWO decent films and actors that actually cared about what they were doing. Made the day somewhat worthwhile.

 

Since I'm already typing out a novel, the trailer for Shrek 3 was attached to Spiderman 3 and I likely will avoid that movie as well, just bad, bad.

The American flag bothered me, the newscasters filling us in bothered me, the scenes with the quick one liners, I know that's a staple in ANY action film, but even they got on my nerves. I think one of the few scenes I didn't have a problem with was the Bruce Campbell cameo, but even that felt tired and cliched. No surprise though that the film made a bunch in it's first day, will be interesting to see how much time passes before Sony starts putting together a fourth.

They did that in Spiderman 1 as well, which along with the forced "You mess with one of us you mess with all of us" line by the New Yorkers, represented the fact the movie came out less than a year after 9/11. I really don't understand why it made it into this one.

I think you guys are coming down to hard on it. The main point of the story was MJ struggling to become a star, when Peter is finally getting his stardom. Thats a problem for them. Then they tie his uncles murder into to it all. I liked it minus the cheezy part of him playing the cool venom role in the middle. The ending was awesome with Harry.

If you liked Grindhouse then your opinion on any movie doesn't matter. That was one of the most nauseating worst waste of 3 hours in cinematic history, what's it made? like a buck fifty. Hopefully Sin City 2 washes this Rodriquez movie memory away when it comes out.
