If you liked Grindhouse then your opinion on any movie doesn't matter. That was one of the most nauseating worst waste of 3 hours in cinematic history, what's it made? like a buck fifty. Hopefully Sin City 2 washes this Rodriquez movie memory away when it comes out.

Everything is a bottom line business and looking at just the numbers, Grindhouse is a failure. Grindhouse has, for the most part, gotten across the board GREAT reviews from fans and just critics in general. Yes, there are always going to be people who don't like or don't get certain films.

 

The biggest problem with critics or people in general is that you will walk into a film and expect something else. For example, if you walk into a disposable summer action movie expecting academy award winning performances, chances are you are going to be let down. If you walk into an artsy movie with a 2 million dollar budget and expect the film to look like a movie made for 200 million, you will be disappointed.

 

I generally avoid critics like the plague, because they make that mistake, expect too much from whatever film. I don't expect anyone to read whatever I have to say and make a decision based on that. I take solace in the fact that some fans and some critics agree with me that Spiderman 3 is a big time letdown, I don't feel like I saw something that wasn't there.

Good post, but think it is safe to say that lovers of Grindhouse are not gonna like the corniness of movies like A Spidey 3 and vice versa.

I LOVED Spiderman 2, I thought it was one of the better sequels ever made. What may end up happening is that I may enjoy the film more once some time has passed and I don't have such high expectations.

 

I remember seeing Star Wars episode 1 the very first day, like a lot of people and I just HATED the movie. I didn't watch it again til 6 years later and I actually enjoyed the movie A LOT more since I was able to watch it without all kinds of expectations. That could very well be the case with Spiderman 3.

High expectaions have ruined many a movie, have liked many movies once they came out on DVD that didn't care for at the theatre . Mood and timing for the viewer has a lot to do with it. Loved Disturbia because of no expectations.

I thought this movie was pretty sweet. I'd say the other two are better, but they're a pretty hard act to follow.

 

*Spoilers* I guess. When Peter dominates Harry at his condo, it was freaking sweet. I thought it was awesome when he slung the bomb back at him.

 

Also, a question for anybody that folllowed the comics...How did Spiderman beat the Sandman dude, or did it happen the way it did in the movie?

 

I was thinking they were going to heat him up into to glass and then break him. :lol:

In the first appearance in the comics, Spider-Man defeated him with a vacuum cleaner. Sucked him up into it.

I had the opposite reaction with EPI and EPII. I didn't realize how bad the movies were until years later.

Terrible. Just terrible. Barely worthy of being attached to the other two movies. It's like they took elements of my least favorite movies and put them together. One thing I despised from the Schumacher Batman movies (Forever, Batman & Robin) was the villain teamup. Always forced and unrealistic to me. So when Venom and Sandman run into each other in an alley and it takes all of ONE MINUTE for them to team up, I just about screamed.

 

EVERYTHING involving Peter/Black Spidey following his getting Brock fired until he got rid of it at the bell was putrid. I don't know how they could have thought that that part was any good.

 

I agree with ram2003 about the butler. Way to sit on your hands as Harry destroyed his life piece by piece (got rid of all his friends, nearly destroyed New York by giving Doc Ock the tritium to get to Spidey, got half his face messed up) and THEN tell him that he's dead wrong. Good call on that one. And that's just an example of the lazy writing that you could see in this one. Like the "I forgive you for killing Uncle Ben and now I'll just let you leave" crap with Sandman. I'm not saying he can't forgive him, but to just let him go? COME ON! I just couldn't suspend my belief in this one to get past a lot of that stuff.

 

I will say that most of the stuff involving Brock/Venom was pretty good. Possibly the best part of the movie. I just thought there was so much potential that was wasted.

 

Absolutely, the teaming up of Sandman and Venom was one of the biggest writing cop-outs I've ever witnessed. I could practically hear the writers in the background saying "How do we do this??? Oh, random meeting in a dark alley! GENIUS" Also, unless I just missed it, I couldn't figure out how in the world Venom/Brock knew "all about" Sandman.

 

While I really wish this film had taken the truly dark route (Brock going to church to commit suicide instead of praying to kill Peter Parker, a more evil - less emo black Spiderman, lack of random 70's dance moves, and a lot more Venom), I still felt it was worthy of my six and a half bucks. Also, the audience I was in the theater with was pretty hysterical, with commentary on certain parts that I won't bother repeating.

Spider-Man will return for at least three more movies, its studio has said after the super-hero's third film broke North American box office records.

 

Sony Pictures chief executive Michael Lynton told the BBC: "Everybody has every intention of making a fourth, a fifth and a sixth and on and on."

 

There would be "as many as we can make good stories for", he pledged.

 

Spider-Man 3 is now the most successful new release in history, making $148m (£74m) in its opening weekend.

 

That beat the previous best of $136m (£68m) set by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest last year.

Saw it last night.....Maybe the most disappointed I've ever been in a movie. I've never liked Kirstin Dunst for MJ, but she was extremely awful in this one.

 

What was up with them trying to make it a comedy? That completely ruined the entire movie for me.

 

After the first 20 minutes I figured out the ending...While Harry's lying in the hospital bed, he tells the nurse that "he would die for them (Peter & MJ), and I just found that line as too odd not to be foreshadowing things to come.

 

Also, how bad were the villians developed? The Sandman, I wanted to like him, but they made it impossible. I mean, does anyone know what was wrong with his daughter? Because I never heard them mention it.

 

Venom was in the movie all of 10 minutes I think....A complete waste of a great villian.

 

The only positive I took out of this movie was the set the stage for a 4th, with the hint of the Croc and Charnage as the villians.

 

All in all I probably give it about 4 out of 10.
