I'm a recent graduate of NKU. Also I majored in Sports Business while at NKU. I took part in many surveys and studies where basically NKU decided they will not go D-1 any time soon. It will be more than 10-15 years before another study will be done to see if they are D-1 ready.

 

Secondly, This would be a good fit for Austin because he would have 4 years of seeing a lot of playing time. If he goes big time D-1 he will sit his freshman year but will start to see more and more time as he becomes an upperclassmen. Thats just the facts coming from a outsider.

I'd say he has the potential to be at the other 2. But potential is a VERY big word.

What position will Austin play at the D1 level (high or mid)? He's not a PG by any stretch. His handle is decent (relative to D1) and his shot is inconsistent. Can he post up a 2 guard in D1?

 

I'd say NKU would be a great fit and he would have a successful career and earn his degree and become a productive member of society.

I can see Austin put up some good numbers at X maybe not untill his jr. year, but still could put up some good numbers.

He is guard size w/out guard ability to handle the ball, shoot consistantly well enough to play Major D1 ball, IMO. He is a great athlete but at the inbetween size where he would do better playing the 3 spot but does not possess that kind of size.

Did Austin grow in the last couple of weeks, how tall do you think he is? I will say legit 6"1', he can not play the three at a D1 school. Think about this, Brewer from Florida plays the 3, he is 6"9'.

I love his game from the five or six times I've seen him, but if I were a coach at a top-flite D-I school, his lack of height would really scare me away. It would take a heckuva lot of work on his ballhandling for him to be a PG, and at 6-1/6-2, I could see him getting abused on the low blocks by 6-6 and 6-7 SGs, which has been the trend at the top levels of D-I for the past few years. NKU would be a great fit, IMO.

But it's not like he's a poor ball handler or a poor shooter, true he needs to improve, but I can't see why he couldn't improve. I know I sound like a broken record, but the kid's potential is endless. I think he could do it.

Your'e right but this will not happen at a top D1 school. Can you honestly say you could see him playing for any of the recent Sweet 16 teams in the NCAA tourney, pinch yourself and wake up. He is good but not that good and too much improvement needed to play at this level. Main thing is his size.
