April 17, 200719 yr For the record, I HATE this argument: He's not going to play when a lefty's pitching because he's a left handed batter. You either play an ENTIRE right handed lineup or play your best players...period...

I think it can be over-done, but knowing Narron, I'm sure that Hamilton isn't going to see a lot of action agasint LH's.

April 17, 200719 yr Can Phillips not play SS? Would it not have been a good time to find out while Gonzalez is on bereavement leave?

April 17, 200719 yr 2. The ump didn't signal infield fly (second-base ump) until Weeks jumped. Watch the right arm of the ump; it goes up right as Weeks is leaving his feet. It should be called immediately, not that late, and certainly not when you see the fielder has positioned himself to make the play difficult. Horrible call. . One minor disagreement - the umpire cannot call it UNTIL he makes the determination that the ball can be caught without much effort. I would think leaping would rule that out but who am I.

I would think leaping would rule that out but who am I. If the time he determined that is when Weeks was out of position, leaping, and off balance, than I think that pretty much cements the case that it was the wrong call.
April 17, 200719 yr If the time he determined that is when Weeks was out of position, leaping, and off balance, than I think that pretty much cements the case that it was the wrong call. No argument. My point was in regards to how early it s/b called.
April 17, 200719 yr No argument. My point was in regards to how early it s/b called. If you have to wait to determine whether or not a "fly" is easily caught in the infield, it probably isn't. :bunny:
April 17, 200719 yr If you have to wait to determine whether or not a "fly" is easily caught in the infield, it probably isn't. :bunny: Let's not forget the fact that the ball still landed in the outfield after glancing off Weeks glove...terrible call...and if you can read lips, Narron explained his side of the argument very eloquently...
April 17, 200719 yr Imo Narron has to find a way to get Hamilton in the lineup daily. He is far too good to be in the dugout.
April 17, 200719 yr I really wish they would trade him....It would be best for both parties... I agree, would also free up some needed $$$$$. :thumb:
