April 18, 200719 yr Now the big question. Freel with 4 hits, Hamilton reaches base 3 times with two hits, Griffey Jr. with a couple of hits and 2 RBI's, Dunn with a hit and RBI. Who sits tomorrow night?

April 18, 200719 yr Freel or Griff. E-5 can't get back on track on the bench. With the Kid not having an off day since last Wednesday, and an inexperienced guy on the hill tomorrow night for Houston, I'm betting he gets the day off.
April 18, 200719 yr Nice night for Freel. Anybody still want to bench him? No, but moving him around seems to spark him, and i like the idea of using him as an utilty player as I have said many times and i still stand by that.
April 18, 200719 yr With the Kid not having an off day since last Wednesday, and an inexperienced guy on the hill tomorrow night for Houston, I'm betting he gets the day off. I thought Chris Sampson was on the bump tonight for Houston? Is he not?
April 18, 200719 yr I know that there are arguments both ways but imo Narron HAS to find a way to get Hamilton and Freel in the lineup every day.
April 18, 200719 yr By the way, for those that don't know, Adam Dunn and Chris Sampson have become good friends and off-season workout partners. Here was an interview they did together from February. Dunn and Sampson
April 18, 200719 yr Dunn has a great sense of humor. I have the link saved where he is on the banana phone in Milwaukee. It is priceless. Well at least I thought I did. It says the thread is there anymore or whatever. I found another link. http://cache.deadspin.com/assets/resources/2006/07/adamfrommilwaukee.mp3
April 18, 200719 yr I know that there are arguments both ways but imo Narron HAS to find a way to get Hamilton and Freel in the lineup every day. If Freel plays every day he becomes less and less productive. What's wrong w/ 3 starts a week?
April 18, 200719 yr Now the big question. Freel with 4 hits, Hamilton reaches base 3 times with two hits, Griffey Jr. with a couple of hits and 2 RBI's, Dunn with a hit and RBI. Who sits tomorrow night? Dunn had a horrible night until the game was decided.
April 18, 200719 yr I hope this is the game that gets Phillips going. We really need his bat. I wish he would have gotten thrown out at 3rd for walking to 1st base like that. From Lance: Double standard tested Did you wonder as I did in the 8th inning? Brandon Phillips hit a ball he thought was a HR, and he went into a trot. The ball bounced off the wall .....and Phillips wound up at third. I don't accept Jerry's explanation below. Either you hustle or you don't. It's the act. Not whether you can recover from your lack of hustle. From the Cincinnati Post: Narron had some words for Phillips as he walked from third to the dugout after the inning was over, but the Reds manager did allow Phillips back on the field to finish the game. "I told him I was thankful he made it to third base, because I would have hated for him to not been in there in the ninth inning," Narron said. "I thought it was out. The only thing I can tell you is, as long as guys get the bases they're supposed to get, that's all I ask for." Thats weak.
April 18, 200719 yr Dunn had a horrible night until the game was decided. Agreed...horrible. However, I don't think you can sit him (IMHO). Heck, besides he and Freel, who can steal a base?
April 18, 200719 yr I thought Chris Sampson was on the bump tonight for Houston? Is he not? Yes. Do you not consider him to be inexperienced? (14 career games, 4 starts, 42IP) Wouldn't it make much more sense to run the Kid out there fresh against Williams, who is far more accomplished? With an inexperienced guy on the hill for the opposition, if I'm a manager I feel I can take my chances by sending out a "weaker" lineup and saving Griffey for PH duty late if you need him.
April 18, 200719 yr Very nice win for the Reds and until Hobbs starts to taper off, you have to have him in the lineup as often as possible. How frustrating was it to have the top 2 guys set the table the entire game and Dunn couldn't take advantage. Thank goodness the guys behind him got some big hits.
