Track The Reds...

Yes. Do you not consider him to be inexperienced? (14 career games, 4 starts, 42IP) Wouldn't it make much more sense to run the Kid out there fresh against Williams, who is far more accomplished? With an inexperienced guy on the hill for the opposition, if I'm a manager I feel I can take my chances by sending out a "weaker" lineup and saving Griffey for PH duty late if you need him.

Sorry, I misread your post. I thought you were saying to sit Josh because there was an experienced guy on the hill (I then thought you intimated savvy) and that it would be a good night to sit him.

Completely my bad. I need to get back into my hooked on phonics. You know what they say, "reading is fundamental." :D

If Freel plays every day he becomes less and less productive. What's wrong w/ 3 starts a week?

Freel would need to play more than just 3 nights a week...Yeah your going to have to give him off days every now and then to keep him fresh since his body takes such a beating with the way he plays. However the reds are better offensively and defensively when he is on the field, and just 3 games a week wouldn't be enough...

No sweat! I thought you knew I still, to this day, almost always refer to Griffey as "The Kid." Old habits die hard!

Agreed...horrible. However, I don't think you can sit him (IMHO). Heck, besides he and Freel, who can steal a base? :D:p

I didn't say he should sit.

Who do you sit then? The way I look at it is Dunn and Phillips should only sit 1 game every 2-3 weeks. 1st base is already a platoon situation that looks pretty good. Griffey and EE are only going to sit 1 game every 7-10 games. If Phillips doesn't spell Gonzo at SS there aren't a lot of weeks Freel gets 4/5 starts unless Hamilton isn't playing or someone is hurt.

Dude said "who should sit?" You said "Dunn had a horrible night..." 2 + 2 = 4 :D :sssh:

I see what you're saying. I was just pointing out that Dunn did nothing when he had a bunch of opportunities but if you look in the box score he had a SB, hit, and an RBI. Everyone I was at the game w/ figured he'd hit it out in his last at bat.

I'm a firm believer that Freel sits unless someone is hurt, Hamilton needs a day or two, and an occasional spot start at 2B, 3B, or RF.

Today's line-up:

Freel, 3B

Hamilton, CF

Dunn, LF

Griffey, RF

Phillips, 2B

Hatteberg, 1B

Gonzalez, SS

Ross, C

Harang, P

If Chad Moeller can't make contact he shouldn't be on the roster. W/ that said I hope Ross goes 2-4 w/ a double and 3 RBI's.

Hopefully a new avatar.:walk:

Better??? :D

Better??? :D

Much.

On Moeller, I'd give him one of the starters to catch each time, see what he does with those 20% of the starts, and go from there. If Valentin gets one starter, and Moeller gets one starter, at least Ross will only be bad 60% of the time.

Looks like some rain rolling through according to the weather map, and it has really clouded up in the last hour here. What's it looking like up that way? Will there be any delays?

Looks OK out my window right now. But I'm not that close to the stadium...
