April 18, 200719 yr Who do you sit then? The way I look at it is Dunn and Phillips should only sit 1 game every 2-3 weeks. 1st base is already a platoon situation that looks pretty good. Griffey and EE are only going to sit 1 game every 7-10 games. If Phillips doesn't spell Gonzo at SS there aren't a lot of weeks Freel gets 4/5 starts unless Hamilton isn't playing or someone is hurt. Well as I said Freel would need to have some off days and not play everyday for 2 or 3 weeks straight. However he needs to play on MOST weeks more than 3 games a week. The team is just better when he is playing, because he brings more to the defense with his hustle and offense with his speed. He also can play 2nd and 3rd also I believe. So that is 5 positions he can play, even though if he is in the outfield he will be in center. But thats 5 people who he can play for if you just want to give a guy a day off. Yeah all those guys are definitely very skilled, yet Freel probably means more to this team than anybody. Because in baseball you got to have defense and he is arguably the best defensive player on the team, then on offense he gives you speed which is something we dont have much on this team. So when he is on base that puts a little bit more pressure on the pitcher and the defense. Freel means alot more to this team and its success than most people want to believe, and if he is only playing 3 days a week on most weeks, then I bet the team wouldn't do as good as they would with him playing more....

So you're comftorable w/ Dunn, Phillips, Hamilton, Griffey, & EE getting a game off every week? I'm not. When healthy Dunn or Phillips shouldn't miss a game every 5 games.

Yes I am, because Freel is just as important as those guys, for the reasons I have already stated above.. Yeah there are going to be some weeks I think he maybe should only play 3 games a week, so that would mean that those guys wouldn't getting a game off every week. Because I know Freel does need to get some rest with the way he plays, however for most of the weeks he needs to play more than just 3 games a week...
April 18, 200719 yr Listening to Thom on the radio really is a pleasure. He mentions that Berkman losing that weight and getting fit may end up hurting his power numbers and then when Marty says that Clemens won't come back to this so, so Astros team, Thom was quick to mention that he did last year. Dare we say that Thom is better than Marty? I know Marty isn't a kid anymore, but I do enjoy listening to Thom more right now.
April 18, 200719 yr Yep, I take my shots at Griffey as much as the next person and they are deserved. BUT that was a great, great catch.
April 18, 200719 yr No way Sampson makes it in the majors as a pitcher. He throws WAY to many fastballs right down broadway.

April 18, 200719 yr It's been said on the radio why the Reds aren't being more patient with a guy that really haven't seen. BUT you can't complain when the ball leaves the yard. Phillips maybe FINALLY heating up.
