At this point, there's no one I'd rather see coming to the hill if I'm in the on deck circle. He has never been able to locate pitches. 93 is by no means overpowering. Please tell me what his "out pitch" is.

It may just be that I'm a little slow, but what in the heck does that mean????

Aaaaahhhhhh ... that makes sense. :thumb:

If I remember correctly, Coffey struggled in the closer role, but did better in the set up role last year.

Of course his last couple outings it wouldn't have mattered when he came in, but I think he will be fine. Goodness knows if he continues to struggle, the Reds have a bunch of other people they can try and put into the role. Not that they will do much better.

Knee-jerk much? :p:D;)

Sorry Jim, I had to fly and didn't have time for the whole "not soon enough." Thanks for the back-up Spindoc. :thumb:

Oh, it's not a knee jerk, I think I just jinxed him by annointing him worthy of closing last year. His #'s aren't as stellar as HT would let on. When you pitch one inning stints and your ERA is 4 or better, you are just not that good. So I wouldn't call it knee jerk, I'd prefer dead leg. He will prove over time that he's not got the game between the ears to be thrust into late inning relief, IMO.

Last year his ERA was 3.5 he is being over worked that is why this is happening.

He's thrown 8.1 innings and it's the first of the season, He's overworked!?

Not that HT needs me to speak for him, BUT I believe Coffey has pitched in the last 5 games, last 4 games? He probably needs a day off.

Oh, I agree, he needs some dayssssssssssss off. It'd be different if he pitched well and is now "worn out". He wasn't exactly stellar when he was fresh. And FWIW, I believe it's as much between his ears as anything.

His first 7 appearances this year, he only gave up one run.

2 of his last 3 appearances, he has given up 7 runs.

It was said on the radio and probably TV, would be nice if he had an "out" pitch with 2 strikes.
